WE NEED THE MIND OF CHRIST

Religion has often been a cover for greed and a justification of inequality. In recent times it has been an excuse for supporting demagogues and leaders of low character. “Many Christians in the modern west have read the Bible as if it shows that God is separate from nature (dualism) .. and that creation exists ultimately for human’s sake (human chauvinism). These perspectives have led to indifference, at best, and sometimes even hostility toward nature.”
You may have noticed over the pandemic, what has always been the case where mammon is the over-arching value. Humans, nature and the Earth are seen as expendable for the sake of the Economy. One writer has described this is the system of ‘un-love’. More bluntly it is the system of anti-christ.
PIOUS SELFISHNESS
The notion that the creation exists for our enrichment and that religion is about maintaining the status quo has been the cover for the antichrist spirit for centuries. The murder of Life when He appeared among us was substantially due to the threat that Jesus posed to vested interests of all kinds – of the self-entitled religious elite and the ignorant and self-centred masses.
STARTS IN THE MIND
The nature of wickedness is that it prefers selfishness and ignorance over life. It is adept at justifying un-life in terms of fake righteousness or ‘jobs and growth’. Selfishness does not always appear as what it is. It is seen often as ‘hanging on to your stuff’. Politically it stifles national development and personally it comes close to being a mental disease: Hoarding vested interests.
BEING STUPID IS STUPID
Australia is well placed to gain enormous wealth from Renewable forms of energy. But the ignoring of this opportunity is a combination of head in the sand, an obsession with the old and bloody mindedness. Refusal to acknowledge reality is called stupidity.
GRACE IS NOT A REASON TO BE STUPID
There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. But neither is there the promotion of ignorance and bigotry. Fools whether wealthy or poor are still fools. A good definition of stupidity is the repetition of policies that do not work in the expectation that they will. Dumb ideas are not good just because our friends have them or because we ourselves are glued to our own pathetic version of ‘common sense’.
WHOSE CHRIST IS YOURS?
Christ is not about promoting grace as an excuse for ego and folly. If the non-Believer can see that ‘Many are engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy .. the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness,’ then one would hope that the Believer would be more astute. If only.
CRITERIA
We would do better to divest ourselves of the lazy thinking and bone-headedness of the left versus right dichotomy and take each issue on its merits. Does the proposal promote more life or does it rob people of life?

IS YOUR CHRIST CAPTURED IN DEBILITATING RELIGION?
Everything about Jesus is life-giving. He gives life to individuals, to societies and to the earth.
Jesus is who we are and who society can become.
“Jesus Christ himself is the true image of God in a unique and supreme sense, for he is both the image and reality of God in his incarnate Person. Because Jesus Christ is the image of God it is only when we are incorporated into Christ that we realise our true personhood and so the true image of God.” God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. Jesus Christ gave Himself to the world to bring life and well-being without measure to every aspect of living.
