YOUR LIFE OF GOD IS FOUND IN THE CHRIST OF GOD IN YOU
30/08/23 07:35
The life of God is not found in moralism, the law or any version of the knowledge of good and evil attempting to pass itself of as the Kingdom Jesus began. What is relevant is the trinitarian God and our having been joined to this Communion in the Person of Jesus Christ. God is person and communion by nature. It is in this trinitarian communion that we share as individuals and as the church. We are an expression of this when we live incarnated instead of religious.
THE LETTER IS A DUD
All non-Christ our life versions are examples of the letter that kills and the age of separation that ended at the cross. With Christ’s resurrection began the era of our living in the atonement wrought by Christ and our being ignited by the incarnation – a figure than Moses had seen in the burning bush.
COMMUNION COMES FROM GOD AND IS GOD
Thomas Torrance observes that, “In its fullest and deepest sense, mysterion refers to the union of God and man eternally purposed in God, but now revealed and set forth in Jesus Christ as true God and true man in one person: a union which
creates room for itself in the midst of our estranged humanity and
through fellowship or communion gathers people, men and women
and children, into one body with Jesus Christ.
“In these expressions, 'union' and 'one body with Jesus Christ', we have described the meaning of koinonia. In the expressions 'eternally purposed' and 'set
forth' we have the significance of prothesis [substitution of that which is missing]. And in the expressions 'creates room for itself', 'fellowship' or 'communion', and 'gathering into one body with' Christ, we have the significance of koinonia.
“All this has to be understood from beginning to end in terms of the
incarnation, of the union of God and man brought about by the
incarnation of the Word, the union of God and man in Jesus Christ.
“That union is one which recedes back into the mystery of the
communion of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but it is set forth in the
incarnate life of Jesus Christ in terms of the reconciliation of man and
God, for through his atonement and through his Spirit, Jesus Christ
who is God and man in himself, creates out of the world, a church con-
corporate with himself, or one body with him.”
REAL BODY, REAL CHURCH
This is why real church growth is the effect of the Spirit and not of the letter of church growth theory or the adoption of externalities in place of the Living Way of God incarnated in us.
