In the atonement and incarnation, God is woven into our being. Our redemption is more than the undoing of Adam although it is this. We are made one with God and infused with the Being of God and made truly sons of God by being joined to Father in the Person of His Son. The basis of Kingdom life is reconciliation with God.
MADE ONE WITH GOD
In Jesus Christ human being are enfolded in the Communion that is the triune God. Adamic separation is undone, reconciliation is has begun and we as daughters and sons fellowship and walk with God by being people who believe. But believe in what? New covenant theology is the Gospel of the Kingdom and the essence of Reformed Theology. You status as a result of the cross is union with God.
Any gospel that assumes separation from God in the post cross age is not a Kingdom Gospel. Your godliness is not something you achieve by ‘Keeping close to Jesus.’ You are no more capable of this than the Jews were of keeping the law. Christianity is not some new kind of law. A Whole Person Christianity is the Living Way in which Christ’s Person unites you with Himself, Father and Holy Spirit. You are not an orphan. Jesus is in you and with you.
YOU ARE INCLUDED
“The Christ by whom all things were made is the same Christ who, for us and our salvation, assumed our humanity. In other words, the Son of God who created Adam for sonship and communion and immortality does not abandon His loving purposes for humanity, for every single human person. But in order to redeem humanity and to bring to fulfillment His purpose for humanity, for everyone, He Himself becomes a man that He might fulfill in us His own person God’s purpose of love and obedience and worship. (Pg. 52)
Christ does not heal us as an ordinary doctor might, by standing over us, diagnosing our sickness, prescribing medicine for us to take and then going away, leaving us to get better as we follow His instructions. No, He becomes the patient. He assumes that very humanity which is in need of redemption, and by being anointed by the Spirit in our humanity, by a life of perfect obedience, by dying and rising again, for us, our humanity is healed in Him, in His person. We are not just healed through Christ, because of the work of Christ, but in and through Christ. Person and work must not be separated. (Pg. 53) Our repentance is thus a response to grace, not a condition of grace. (Pg. 57)(1)”
There is no separation in Christ Jesus. We are reconciled to God in the Christ of God and more. We are woven into God and God is woven into us. We are not of His Gospel because we have spiritual gifts or participate in the miraculous by His power. We live in the Gospel of Jesus and the apostles because we are living in the oneness with God He has given us in Himself.
