I have a friend in Auckland whom Jesus uses to heal people most days. One of the exciting things in the Christian journey is to learn that our role is to continue what Jesus began. This has been the basis of much of our work in India where we have seen many people healed of serious diseases by Jesus’ authority operating through us.

‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams’ Acts 2.17 NIV.


Manifestations of Holy Spirits’ presence are known and experienced by significant segments of the Body of Christ. People do speak in tongues and words of knowledge are common. Bill Johnson and Bethel church have done much to awaken the church at large into the authority that is ours as representative of Jesus and what He began.

Cessationism has been shown to be a fallacy by evidenced based theology. I have seen some people healed in Australia and many in India where the people are more desperate for God.

Strident voices have warned against a religion of ‘experience’ without realising that what is being practised in their quarter is the experience of the absence of institutionalism or worse – the absence of God. Not that He is absent. It’s just that we have created a ‘reality’ in which He seems to be absent.

It’s not uncommon for delusions to become solidified into people’s religion. Christian sects can be based on delusions and good people even give their lives to it.


Manifestations are signs of Jesus’ presence among us and of the Kingdom of God. He has never gone away. We are not orphans and He lives in all who believe. He lives in people who don’t believe. But is not activated until we switch ourselves on. This is why it’s helpful to be baptised by the Holy Spirit. Jesus instructed, ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about’ Acts 1.4 NIV.


‘The gifts’ however are not the main issue in this age. The incarnation is the main dynamic.

Incarnation is a function of the new covenant which in essence is UNION WITH GOD. Jesus referred to this when He urged, ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV. Realising this is important because it locates and roots us in the same soil in which Jesus was rooted: The Trinity.

Jesus said, ‘I and the Father are one.’ He could have said, ‘I and Holy Spirit are one.’ Because they were. The joy of oneness that is the life of the trinity in heaven, is the communion that Jesus enjoyed on earth. This communion is now ours. Jesus said, ‘All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.’ In God’s parlance ‘to know’ is to be in union as in the ‘knowing’ of husband and wife. It means, ‘I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV.


The gifts are not the main issue but the incarnation is. This is the issue. You are interwoven into God which means that you and our Father are one.

This is the ground of the gifts and the source of the manifestations of the Spirit. This is not to downgrade the gifts. It is to place them in their proper context where they are rooted in the trinity and our union with God. This is the key to the Spirit without limit and more. It is the difference between Godly insight and flakiness.

It is a sad thing to have a healed limb and remain unhealed in our relationship with God.


‘I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 NIV. So Jesus Christ can be acknowledged and we can deny that He has come in our flesh because we insist that the law, observances and religion has come in our flesh. But in so doing we deny the incarnation.


Spirit-filled communion that is not rooted in union with God can never become the Kingdom of God. It has no root and no authority. Spirit and life and flow from us in rivers when we live in the fact that we and our Father are one. This union that is ours works both ways. Not only are we in God but the trinity lives in us. Jesus declares that the difference between Christ and anti-christ is just this reality. Genuine Kingdom life is Christ come in our flesh. Life from another source is the law and religion come as the flesh.

In this age you are the expression of the trinity. The implication of the incarnation is more radical than many know. We should understand that manifestations are exciting and useful. But the significance of the incarnation is that the main manifestation of Holy Spirit is you. You as yourself, you where you are. You as a man or a woman are the manifestation of the Son of God.
