There are ‘alive people.’ They may not be Christians but they are sensitive folks abounding in emotional and intellectual intelligence. There are others in contrast to these who live their insensitive and sometimes boorish lives inside the cast-iron box of their accumulated ideas. We call them bigots. But ‘knowing’ in God is more than intelligence or information gathering. It’s insight and discernment informed by revelation – a quiet perception that comes from oneness with Christ and an uncontrived humility.

Not all signalled grace is real grace. Some grace is no more than the absence of spiritual discernment resulting from a life in the law and its separating effect from God and from people. It’s easy to appear gracious when you cant see properly.

The rescue of the boys from the cave of Thailand in recent years, can be seen as a parable of God’s saving grace in Jesus. The saga of Donald Trump and his weird ‘leadership’ can also be seen as a parable. It’s a picture of the confusion that occurs when one creates their own reality and decides to live in it no matter what. Mr Trump saw the press as his Enemy because journalists in the main are committed to revealing the truth. Truth is a threat if we have an addiction to our own ideas and have for various reasons married ourselves to a lie. A person committed to truth is quite different to one committed to their received theology. One is alive while the other is dying.

‘They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen’ Romans 1.25 NIV.

The first deacons were chosen for wisdom and being filled with the Holy Spirit.

It’s not difficult to be mistaken about something. But wise and humble people do not make a god out of their beliefs. They submit them to wisdom. They mature in wisdom, understanding and Godliness as they discard wrong beliefs and embrace the truth. Truth both sets us free from various degradations and enhances our innate nobility as sons of God.

‘The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding’ Prov 4.7 NIV.

The book of Proverbs is an ode to wisdom. Rick Joyner casts Wisdom as the Person of Jesus. It’s significant that we can proclaim our love for Jesus yet rationalise our rejection of His leading into new truth adventures because we have a vested interest in a lie.

Our advance into the spirit and actuality of sonship consists in the relinquishing of misunderstandings and the separation of ourselves from lies about God and about ourselves. Theological lies are not always promoted on purpose. But they are clung to for the same reason that vested interests cling to coal even when it emerges that there are alternatives that are workable and plentiful.

Among Believers there are those who are wedded to the ‘coal’ of the ages – the old covenant that renders them separate from God (in their minds) and results in many religious and sometimes tedious dissertations, that are notable for their absence of spirit and life. They are ‘coal’ as compared to the ever-present, continually renewable supplies of gold - spirit and life that flow from the sunshine of Christ in us. And not only Christ but our status as sons, interwoven with the being of God and here to manifest His life and joy as ourselves being who we are!

It may be seen that we need to take our ideas, things we have believed, faulty doctrines and non-gospels to the cross, repent of them and align ourselves with what Jesus believes about many matters. It’s not hard. We just need to cease filtering out truth confrontations that have been coming to us for twenty years and determine to receive the truth of God. This is the wisdom and revelation that is flowing from apostolic people. Then we can be the deep, fertile soil that we are called to be in the parable of the Sower.

‘But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop’ Luke 8.15 NIV. Let persevering mean a willingness to be done with comforting illusions.

Yet some cannot do this. They are not the pure in heart. They are in love with their weeds and rocks. They just don’t see their pet doctrines for what they are. The perilousness of their soil is invisible to them because they do not want to see. They have made a liaison with their long-held views and like a ‘Donald Trump’ have created their own reality that generates its own fictions and sloughs of truth encounters autonomously. It’s called living in a stronghold.

The truth of the new testament age is the truth of Christ in you, along with the vicarious humanity of Jesus. I have included a link to an excellent article on this topic – excellent because it links the end of the old covenant and the beginning of the new with Christ’s life for us. The hope of the church is the fullness of Christ in all. This is the fullness waiting to be revealed in us all as we believe in and embrace the truth of the incarnation and live from this realisation: ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.’ John 14.20
