‘We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing’ 1 Cor 2.6 NIV. The mature are growing in the wisdom of God. The immature think they are God and cannot be taught. ‘Wisdom's instruction is to fear the LORD, and humility comes before honour’ Prov 15.33

Where is God for the Believer? At the local church? At the place on your couch where you do your daily devotions? Up the front of the church with the praise and worship team? God is in you. Once we believe in Jesus - the Father, Son and Holy Spirit make their home in us.

‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.23 NIV.

We have been teaching on the incarnation, of Christ our life and of Jesus, Father and Spirit living in us and imparting their life to us. God is life and that life is the life of all.

Cohesion in the soul, the mind, society and the earth is the effect of oneness with the Christ of God. While there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus, Jesus did warn those who would not receive Him as Himself would die in their sins (John 8.24). Creeping death is seen in the descent of society into chaos and futility. On the contrary those who believe on Him would find healing themselves and would heal the earth.

‘I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me’ John 17.23 NIV.

In the life of God, righteousness is a sub-category of love and of life. Spirit and life is the life presence of the Holy Family released into our persons and communities. The glory of God in the church is seen in when Jesus is incarnated in each member. In the first church leaders were chosen on the basis of being filled with wisdom and the Holy Spirit. Grace is not an excuse for folly and futility.

With Christ in us we are enveloped in His reality – the reality of wisdom, healing and wholeness. He is revealed to us as He is and we know His glory. But there’s more. In Him we are revealed as we are – our true nature and design unfolds. But there is our glory too. Increasingly we become who we are as unique sons and daughters of God and begin to function without artifice in the freedom of the spirit of life. Believers do not kill the earth. They heal it.

Paul writes of the healing revealed in the mystery of Christ come in our flesh. ‘I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory’ Col 1.25-27 NIV. There is no glory in a sick and death earth.

Values and qualities like love and peace have no life independently as themselves. They are just words and possibilities. They are unable to impart themselves or multiply themselves. They are inert and have no meaning or life apart from God expressed as us. Recently I waked along the beautiful Camel Road around the back parts of Mussoorie in India. There were various 'holy writings' along the way urging people to work on things like "peace."

But we cannot be peace just because peace is admirable and good. We have no power to bring ourselves into alignment with such externalities as noble as they are. We replicate them spasmodically but are incapable of sustaining peace at all times. You don't think so? Just look at the history of the world.

God came to us in Christ and has by the atonement and incarnation drawn us into His life of oneness with God. God has taken steps to you and to us. We cannot earn Christ. But He has earned us into communion with God.

The Bible teaches that we are not capable of drawing close to God; that none of our efforts bring God to us and that in fact, self-effort insulates us from God forming a barrier to His presence. So God drew near to us. He came in the form of Jesus, dying for our sins and living for our life - not outside of us but in us - so that His whole and holy life is our life and becomes our life. Jesus is the righteousness of God for you and more. He is the righteousness of God as you. Christ come in the flesh means that His life is manifest as yours.

‘This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God’ 1 John 4.2 NIV.

The Gift of Holy Spirit is not a reward for good works like patience and forgiveness. Holy Spirit is the reward of Christ's good work. Holy Spirit is the means of Christ's presence in and with us and the power that produces the gifts of the Spirit in all who believe. We don't do good works to receive Holy Spirit. WE LIVE IN THE SPIRIT TO BE GOOD WORKS. This is why they are called fruits of the Spirit and not the demands of the Spirit.

‘I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?’ Gal 3.2 NIV. What did they hear? As Paul repeated in His Gospel – Christ is our life.

Self - effort insulates us from God. One cannot be Godly by living from a program or from the law. Not even from being a nice person. These things smother the spirit of Christ and debilitate the presence of God in us. Institutionalism muffles God and dulls the Believer. This is why the direct Christ our life is the promise and the reality of our glory. Only when Christ is personally our life is God fully known and only then are we are our true selves. The try-harder gospel is commonly presented as the gospel of the Kingdom. It is the staple of institutionalism and the engine of the Christian Industry. But it's not of Christ, not the pearl of great price or the spirit and life of the trinity in you. It's Adam with Jesus as a garnish.

The trinity is the womb of the universe. Christ in in you joins us to this life source. Our union with God in Jesus joins us to life. In the New Testament age the womb of all life and growth is Christ in us and our oneness with our Father. This is what makes us Godly. Because of Jesus, we and Father are one. United to Him we are sons not in theory but in spirit and in truth. Now the Spirit and life of the trinity flows through our being. We are made whole, recreated as genuine sons and empowered to ignite all we do with the spirit and life of heaven.

‘Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience’ Col 3.12 NIV.
