Despite what some might try to persuade otherwise, the terms kingdom of heaven and kingdom of God are interchangeable for the same concept: the realm, sphere, jurisdiction of the life and rule of God.” (1) This Kingdom begins in you, because Christ is in you.

The life and rule of God starts in you when you agree that Christ in you is your life.

Someone wrote, ‘Character is the only thing you take to heaven.’ It’s not of course. You take your identity but not your success in balancing good and evil – unless you are a figure from an Egyptian tomb. In this kind of Christianity one earns acceptance with God and eternal life – as one does in every variation of legalism. The law comes in many religions but has one impetus. You earn your favour with God.

This is not the case in Christ's Gospel but it is the case in an 'other gospel.'

This is why we need to live in the Spirit and not in the flesh - the flesh that accomplishes little for the establishment and expansion of the Kingdom of God. This Kingdom is the presence of God manifest in our being and as a result in the world. The new creation Kingdom of God is the direct effect of Christ come in our flesh.

The new creation is the incarnation manifest. The Kingdom is the fruit of our new covenant union with God. It’s the unfolding new creation that unfolds out of our being. The meaning of ‘Christ our life’ is that we are graced with Christ’s atonement and graced with His person as ourselves.

'I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me' Gal 2.20 NIV. As such my Adam is dead and Christ is me!

The new covenant – which is your inheritance is more than salvation. Christ in you is you as the manifestation of the trinity.

The realm Satan precipitated through Adam operated independently of God, even though it had its own morality and sometimes its own humanitarian principles. But goodness on its own is not the Kingdom of God. Sharing in the being of God is the Kingdom of God. This is why helping and charity work following a flood may benefit people but still be less than what God wants to offer people through the ministry of Believers. He wants us to mediate to them the reality of the life we are sharing with Him. John describes this as SPIRIT AND LIFE. It is spirit and life that is the essence of the Kingdom of God. How is this ours?

'On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you' John 14.20. We don't need a theology degree to participate in this. But we do need to participate in this theology. This infusion to our being is the gift of God that is eternal and infinite life. The title deed to this inheritance is realising it and living in it.

This is easy for us if we are living in our new covenant inheritance of at-one-ment. Christ’s atonement for us is not just a declaration of not guilty. The two have been
made one. Our being is united with the being of God. We enter this reality by believing. It is already ours but we must possess it - by agreeing with it and resting in it as a fact. Paul urged the Jews to live in their inheritance in Christ because you get it by accepting it as fact. When we are living in conscious oneness with Jesus, the life of the trinity is in us and flowing from us. Thus like Jesus we are nourished ourselves and we touch others with His spirit and life. We are extending the boundaries of the life and rule of God.

Live in the spirit of sonship because you are
the son of the Free Woman. In the spirit there are qualities of being that are not open to us if we are constrained in the law or the regime of Adam. Jesus has spirit and life, plus authority quite different to the scribes - the pedestrian promoters of religion. This is because He was the Son of God in relation to His Father and a son of God as the son of man. Athanasius of Alexandria wrote, “God became man so that man might become a god.” Remember that Jesus quotes the scripture with approval, 'Ye are gods.' Of course we are not deities. But we are sons and daughters of God which makes us a very high order of being. This is the glory of you that is seeded into your being by Christ in your flesh. We can honour Jesus' cross and enter into the fullness of His life by living in the fullness of His accomplishments for us.
