Never allow yourself to be an economic construct rather than a person. Don’t reduce life to an abstraction. Don’t institutionalise life. Let us not live out the knowledge of good and evil as a ministry or a denomination. Religion as an entity from which to live may be the norm, but it’s not your life in Christ. A Christian version of the knowledge of good and evil is not what Jesus left us. The ‘the fall extended’ may be sincere but it is far from the incarnation that is our inheritance as Christ our life.

The resurrection of Jesus revealed the bone fides of Father and the God-like sonship of sons. It has been revealed that God is infinitely loving, pure in heart and – so loving and pure that He joined us in our humanity in the person of His Son - to live the experience of being human and restore humanity to the Original Vision.

Satan was vanquished at the cross. Father was revealed in His love and integrity in the person of Jesus. The resolve of the trinity in realising their plan for human beings to share their life was exhibited in Jesus and is realised in us every moment in His indwelling by the Spirit.

It was seen that God in His Son would enter the most despicable act of human beings – the crucifixion of the Harbinger of Life – to draw us out of our abyss into the spirit and life of fellowship with God. The fall was undone.

The sons of God were confirmed, certified and declared forever to be the sons and daughters of God. It was declared in heaven and on earth that we belong – that we belong in the fellowship of God.

Satan had cast a slur on God’s integrity and undermined Adam and Eve’s sonship with his ‘if you are?’ This was to be the ploy of the thief, the robber and the father of lies. Not only was the fall precipitated by a lie. Satan embedded these lies in religion to perpetuate weakness and degradation into the social structures of human beings.

The cross is the cross-roads of human history. Jesus succeeded in negating these lies and halting the theft of life. His victory is the undoing of Adam’s betrayal and the re-instatement of the human race in God. Restored in the person of Jesus – who is the new Adam and the progenitor of the new creation.

Yet this creation was no afterthought. It had been planned before the foundation of the world and was really part of the original plan – the plan Paul described as Christ in you. Paul was a living example of old covenant/new covenant man and old Adam/new Adam living. Paul was a born again person: Born of God out of his ‘Saulist’ legalistic, death-dealing, binding-up nature. Born into the glorious liberty of the life-giving Paul the apostle of the Free Spirit.

The contention that Jesus came to uphold the law is a misguided proposition. Paul could have done the ‘political thing’ and pretend that the new covenant is an adjustment of the old. Instead he put himself and reputation on the line, insisting that Christ alone is our life and that the law of the spirit of life is God manifesting as His daughters/sons.

“The Christian God is interested in relationship with us, and not just relationship, but union, and not just union, but such a union that everything He is and has—all glory and fullness, all joy and beauty and unbridled life—is to be shared with us and to become as much ours as it is His. The plan from the beginning, in the Christian vision, is that God would give Himself to us, and nothing less, so that we could be filled to overflowing with the divine life.”

Our freedom, holiness and wholeness as sons of God is revealed when we are hidden in Christ. This is to say we are who we are with bells on when Christ’s Spirit manifests as us. This is not some weird supernatural feat. But it is the occurring in real time of Christ come in our flesh. No. we don’t become Jesus of Nazareth. We become who we actually are in the manifestation of His Spirit in our being. In this age of the incarnation it is what it is: Christ come in the flesh of all who will receive Him.

‘This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God’ 1 John 4.2 NIV. This scripture is mainly about the incarnation and very little about spirits that peep and mutter.

With Christ as our life – this is life in the Spirit- we are made whole and gather glory as we progress into the infinite possibility of the sons and daughters of God. The gospel of Jesus, Paul and John is the fall undone. Performance driven gospels of works and rites are the fall revisited. Here people live in the shadows of death in the illusion that this is the Kingdom of God. Any reversion to the law and the temple is a revisionist gospel and a capitulation to robbery and lies. It’s the fall re-instituted and confirmed under a more heinous lie: The hi-jacking of the Christ to perpetuate the fall. As the author of Hebrews warned, this is an insult to Christ because it undoes His cross.

“To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned. Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation” Heb 6.6-9 NIV.
