TRUTH IS LIFE
If the season of Trumpism teaches us anything it is that an allergy to truth is evil and it is death.
We are not separated from God. We are no closer to God after half an hour of praise and worship than we were before we started. God is not with us more on a Sabbath than He is on Wednesday or any other day of the week. Jesus is always as close to you, as you are to yourself – He is in you and with you.
Our belonging in God does not depend on our victory over sins. Intimacy with God is not the result of a sinless life. Your union with God is ever the result of Christ’s life.
God is incarnated in you. You and Father are one. But not because you have made it so, but because it already is so, thanks to the Enterprise of the triune God.
Union with God is the result of the enterprise of the trinity – the initiative of God for the sons and daughters God whom loves. We need to believe what God believes and seize the treasure in the field. This treasure is infinite in life-giving power. It is Christ in us.
ONE WITH HIMSELF
Baxter Kruger observes that Jesus has united human life, the life of God, the life of heaven and earth in Himself. Paul stated this in Ephesians when he wrote, ‘And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth’ Eph 1.10 NLT. The right time was when He cried ‘It is finished!’ and the right time is now in our everyday life. He did this at the cross. He is doing it through the church. He will complete it at the end of the age.
REJECT LIES AND ILLUSIONS
Kruger declares the truth that THE TRUTH OF ALL TRUTH is that Jesus is in His Father and we are in Him, thus affirming that which is the foundation of new testament living: The incarnation. You and I and the church are never separated from God – except as we falsely imagine this in our minds – which is why we are urged to have the mind of Christ and not the mind of some partisan, diluted gospel that assumes some degree of separation between ourselves and God.
A COMMON DARKNESS
The battle of the ages, asserts Baxter, is between the lie of separation and the truth of union with God. The assumption of separation is the great darkness. Jesus warns in the words of John that Christ come in the flesh – Christ come in us, is the great light of the new testament age. Every attempt to negate this truth is a ploy of the evil one to reduce the sons of God to workers and slaves. Christ came among us as in a real body. Christ coming into you and in us all in our bodies is the great truth and the mighty engine of the Kingdom of God.
‘I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 NIV.
