Any of us can do what Jesus did in releasing a ‘now message’ or a ‘now word’ or a ‘now project’ and a ‘now life’ at the behest of Jesus. Now ministry is what Jesus demonstrated. Doing what Father was doing in the minute and the season was His normal, because He and Father were one. Today and every day in Jesus you and Jesus are one. He has drawn us into the fellowship of God. We just need to live in it. Just as in The Dead Poets Society the boys were urged to seize the day, so we as Believers are invited to SEIZE THE LIFE!

But this life is not somewhere else. Because Christ is your life, this life is in you and with you. Since the cross, Jesus has been part of our being. In the Believer He is Lord, which means that He expresses His presence in us by incarnation.

Recently on Facebook Kristin Couchey drew our attention to that which has been a fact since Pentecost: The importance of the trinity incarnated in the being of those who believe. Couchey writes, “
We have not been waiting for God to do something, God has been patient waiting for us, giving us prophetic hope while we are delivered from darkened minds that have not seen Him as he truly is and truly accepted the completion He has given us in Christ, so that we could see from his perspective.”

Jesus wants us to realise this now: ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. This is the power house of Kingdom advance.

The notion that we are here and Jesus is somewhere else is deeply embedded in much Christian culture. In His book
Patmos, Baxter Kruger accurately names separationist thinking as The Great Darkness. This is an insidious darkness that cloaks itself in the kind of religion that devotes itself to getting us to receive what we already have: Union with God. Such ‘darkness of mind’ results from the separationist mindset that results from living out of the old covenant in the new covenant age. It’s like eating the milk carton instead of drinking the milk. Charismata and the gifts are not a substitute for incarnation and indwelling presence. In fact they will never function in strength where we remain contained in the law and old covenant separation from God.

This basis - the foundational soil of the Kingdom and its gifts - is our already achieved oneness with God.

Bolting Holy Spirit and the gifts onto law and old covenant cannot advance the Kingdom because such a culture has no root. The incarnation is the root. The Spirit without limit is the tree. The new creation is the Kingdom manifest as fruit.

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing’ JOHN 15.5 NIV. Jesus is the vine who joins us to God and God to us. He is the source and guarantee of Kingdom fruitfulness. This source is union with God - the interweaving of our being with the being of God.

Life in the spirit is a state of being - a state of being in God and the normalising of our inheritance; of our new covenant exuberance of being one with God. Living in the new covenant, ‘we and Father being one’ is more than a pious statement or an element of a belief system. It is what Father, Son and Holy Spirit have between them. It is the interwoveness of your being and God’s being. It is ‘Realising that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV.

Life in the Spirit is more than a construct. It is you and Father being one and as such being so ‘yourself’ that you minster life without effort. Streams of living water really do flow from your being. Or not. One can give Bible studies with full sincerity even without one drop of spirit and life. The spirit and life of God is not information. It is not any form of the knowledge of good and evil. Because it does not belong in the realm of Adam or Moses. It is entirely of the Son of God reigning in you and being your life and witness. Far from being vaporous, Spirit is Christ come in your flesh - Jesus filling you with His Spirit and ministering life through your individuality and experience.

‘This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God’ 1 John 4.2 NIV.

A woman gave a word at a conference once. She said, God says you have drops when there are rivers at your disposal. A ‘droplets’ ministry as compared to rivers of life ministry is not due to insincerity. But it is the effect of continuing to live in the relationship with God that existed before the cross and not living in the union with God that has been ours ever since the cross. If we are living from the law we and Father are not one. We are one with Adam and under the influence of a false father. Aptly named the law of sin and death, the law is a subset of Adam’s realm of alienation and separation.

The law of the spirit of life - the living Christ
as you - is the realm of the Kingdom of God. Jesus lived in oneness with His Father. Today you have the same privilege if you are humble enough and obedient enough to believe what Jesus believes. You need the mind of Christ to own what is yours in Christ - a peaceful and secure fellowship with the One who finds you a delight. You have access to a state of being called ‘In the Spirit.’

On this topic Charles Ringma writes, “
We have noticed that solitude is not a place. It is, more particularly, a state of being. But this state of being needs to be maintained. Inner peace and resolve can easily become dissipated. Similarly, prayer is not simply attending the place of prayer. Prayer is not simply maintaining a certain discipline where we tell God all that we desire or need. Prayer can also be a state of being. This is the prayer of the heart. This is the prayer that Nouwen tells us "continues to pray within me. This is a prayer that becomes a part of me. The prayer that I cannot continue to live without. It is the prayer that reverberates within my being. It is a prayer that grows within me, just like a baby within a mother's womb, and that knows no rest until it has come to resolution.” (1)

All this will be real to us when we live in the fact that our life in God is
a state of being. A state of being sons in spirit and in truth.
