THE HEALING PRESENCE IN US
We may operate in the gifts and minister Christ’s healing to others without being healed or whole ourselves, such is God’s grace. We may be mute and dormant selves rather than robust selves, alive with spirit and life, yet offer a ministry of sorts that is far less than the capability we would have as an incarnated person living in oneness with God. if we reject Paul’s ‘Christ our life’ it’s possible that as Believers we are not actually alive.
ONENESS IS SPIRIT AND LIFE
Leanne Payne is spot on when she states that, “True personality is rooted in relationship: first of all in God, the Uncreated, then with everything He has created.” (1) We are not talking activism or extroversion here. We are not talking anything that is generated as a mask or an artificial self. We are talking the true self formed in the womb of the trinity and nurtured by Father in the Spirit of Sonship.
Genuine relationship is less about definitions and more a state of being – of being one with God in the oneness Jesus has won for us.
A healed relationship starts with Jesus, who joins us to Himself, to Father and Holy Spirit. Next comes the healing of the self and the re-creation of the parts of our being as a whole. This is our being formed in Christ.
“The key to.. the healing of relationships comes through being filled with God’s Spirit. We receive this fullness as we seek to dwell in His Presence. This means choosing union and communion with God rather than one’s own separateness, which is in effect the “practice of the presence” of the old Adamic fallen self.
“To be filled with the Spirit is to choose the heaven of the integrated and emancipated self rather than the hell of the disintegrated self in separation. It is to choose the same love that has bound together the Father and the Son throughout all eternity.” (1)This statement of Payne’s is the classic theology of the Church Fathers.
Perichoresis is a function of the atonement and the incarnation. It’s the result of Christ’s mediation of the communion of the trinity to us as individuals and the Church. This is the meaning of the Lord’s Table.
By living from the incarnation we live from what God lives in: Perichoresis. This means being part of each other yet fully themselves. This is the true belonging and inclusion in God of every Believer. We all have an inheritance of interwoveness with God. This is life in the Spirit.
