Father planted Himself in our world in the form of Jesus. The Son of God incarnated as Jesus of Nazareth joined earth to heaven and more importantly we humans to the trinity. So joined to the trinity have we become, that we have this super-rich inheritance. Each of us has the relationship to God and each member of the trinity, that the trinity have with each other. We have this in Christ who is our life in every way.

‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.23 NIV. Jesus’ teaching is that He is our life.

If living in the law oneness with Father seems a nice idea. If Christ is our life it is a reality.

There is no separation in Christ Jesus. Only union. Christ is in us and with us and we have been united to the trinity. God’s life is now our life in an exquisite way. Our being is interwoven with God by the person of Jesus - accomplished by Jesus and made a continual reality in Him. Thus, Jesus is not only our grace and our righteousness. He is the conduit of heaven’s life manifesting through us. With Jesus as our life we are one with God, each other and we are awake because we overflow with spirit and life.

In the movie ‘Awakenings’ the patients live a zombie kind of existence as mere shadows of themselves. They are awakened momentarily by the use of a new drug. But the drug wears off and they sink back to their non-lives. This is a parable of much of Christianity. We have this new covenant life, this union with God, this inheritance of the ultra-life of each person of the trinity potentially alive and active in our being. Not a drug but the reality that comes to us as Christ in whom we can live out this new birth and daily maturation forever. This is the reality of the new covenant: Christ as you. Christ as the church.

By living in the old covenant when we have the gift of the new, we remain un-awakened and un-alive because we are in the separation of the law and the alienation of the knowledge of good and evil. In the new covenant in which we are one with the Father we are lifted out of our zombie-like state into the reality of who we are: The Sons and daughters of God. Living in our new covenant inheritance we are one with God and one with each other. Jesus has made us one with Himself and is bringing all things together in Himself as Paul asserts in Ephesians.

‘For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect’ Matt 24.24. False christs are the product of ‘other gospels’ and private interpretations that produce a diminished Jesus and a crippled people living separated in their minds from God. The Enemy is a thief and a liar who lives to undo the inheritance of the saints and undermine the Kingdom.

‘The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one’ Matt 13.38 NIV.

Francois Du Toit writes, “Our experience of God’s presence has its reference in our understanding of our oneness - we are not more one when we 'feel' whacked or get the goosebumps and less one with God when we feel nothing! Our union is a constant because of God’s doing, we live and move and have our being in him, nowhere else.

That’s the truth; nothing defines us more than this light of life that shone into our hearts to give us understanding that we are in him who is true.” 1 Cor 1:30, Acts 17:28 and 1 John 5:20.” You are not ‘one’ because God used you to heal someone. You are one because Jesus healed the separation between you and Father.

Oneness with God, similitude to God as sons and daughters is found in the new covenant reality of union with God – the incarnation. We can live in this reality. It is already ours. Here we are positioned to be fruit and minister in the Gifts. Nothing more need be done other than our embrace and realisation of this by faith and obedience. ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14,20. In this mindset, in this truth, we are one with God and one with each other in spirit and in truth.

It can come as a shock to learn that most of what we have believed is a false gospel. Really it is an opportunity to be born again in to Christ our life.
