SPIRIT ALIVE AND KINGDOM AGENTS
08/10/24 08:37
Holy Spirit will not anoint divergent gospels for the convenience of their followers.
There is a living way of avoiding specious Christian doctrines and fanciful aberrations that dull our spirit and deaden our soul. This way is to embrace an unconditional loyalty to Christ of the kind that supersedes our loyalty to what may be the idol of our parent body, our parents and patterns of thought that we assumed might give us some status and identity in the our own gaze. We can do better live to than pump up our parents’ ideas or live from denial in our cultural bubble. This means prioritising loyalty to Jesus over every other entity vying to control us.
THE SPIRIT AND TRUTH
“For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For what person knows a man’s thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. And we have received this Spirit from God, not the spirit of the world, so that we may know the things which God has graciously given to us.

THE SPIRIT AND TRUTH TO YOU
“Just as there is an exclusive relation of mutual knowing between the Father and the Son, so there is an exclusive relation of mutual knowing between God and the Spirit. The content of this self-knowing of God through the Son and the Spirit is one and the same, and so in our reception of the Spirit given to us by Christ we are enabled to share in that content, and thus know God through himself.” (1)
TRUTH AND IDOLATRY
To know God is to be defined by God as ‘knowing God and Jesus Christ whom God has sent’. To posit a false christ with a distorted god and attach to this is not to know God but to know an idol.
ONE CHRIST, ONE GOSPEL – NO PADDOCKS OF TARES
We may differ on the ways in which we express Christ personally and in community. But there is only one Gospel of Jesus and the apostles. We can’t just make this up or adjust it according to some supposed latter-day alteration. “We do not start from tradition, from science, from philosophy, nor even from the Bible considered merely as a text that has no need of interpretation. Rather we begin with Jesus.”
‘But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!’ Gal 1.8 NIV. Let us never curse ourselves with obstinate distortions of the Gospel.
