‘The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners’ Isa 61.1 The essence of apostleship is representing the passion of God to liberating captives and those who are unaware of their captivity. Ministers of the new covenant do not live to pump-up received ideas. Their passion is to liberate captives in the Christ-life that is already theirs. 'Apostleship does not exist to support of common errors. It lives to reveal what has always been the truth.' If we find ourselves insulted at the words of someone who uncovers more of Father, who alerts us to depths we have missed in our inheritance in Jesus and who utters truths that are subversive of [our] religion; if they have a message that sets us free of false identities and false christs we might consider that along with Jesus they ourselves and the captives free. Jesus opening declaration was as follows. ‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free’ Luke 4.18 NIV. Free of what. In some cases free of the law. In others free of Adam’s stultification and in yet others free of ‘Christianity’. This may well be the most pervasive prison given that our inheritance was never are religion, because that’s not what He has given us. In Him we have an incarnation, meaning life itself is personified in the Christ who has become us. NARROW WAY The road of conformity is never the narrow way of life without limit. Narrow in the Kingdom sense is Christ our life. The person of Jesus, is light and life. Gregory Boyd astutely observes, that "Large segments of the body of Christ mistake their judgment - their eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil - to be love! Tragically, they promote the essence of the fall as though it were salvation." (1) Gregory Boyd, following Bonhoeffer notes that parts of Christianity are a Christianised version of the knowledge of good and evil. As such this is no advance on the old covenant and the way of Adam - except that it has a Jesus gloss. It is marketed as ‘Christianity’. But it’s not the gospel of the Kingdom and it’s no wonder that it does not grip the unbeliever with any enthusiasm. There is of course a redeemed Christianity. But this is not necessarily a Christianity of big conferences that come to nothing or signs and wonders as a gospel in themselves. It’s an intentional living in the incarnation. Christ our life manifesting in all or our life rather than as religion is the new creation happening as we breathe. YOU AND FATHER ARE ONE The basis of Kingdom life is our [already] achieved union with God through the divine enterprise. The reality of Kingdom life is lived in the incarnation. This is the core of Kingdom advance. It is the trinity having made their home in us. This union with God that Jesus had is now ours and because of this we can have the Spirit without limit. The Spirit and her anointing is not a standalone entity. It's a function of our new covenant incarnation – the normal Christian life. By itself it will not last and can, in separation mode be the source of either crooked versions of God's heart or emanations form the heart of darkness. Signs and gifts are part of Kingdom advertising but they are not a gospel. Christ our life is the Gospel of the Kingdom and this fruits and gifts are a function of this. CHRIST IN YOU If what we have in our jar is not the gospel of Christ we do not multiply life. You have this inheritance in jars of clay. Paul is speaking of Christ come in our flesh. 'We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us' 2 Cor 4. 7 NIV. We can multiply this inheritance, or we can distribute one of our own - like purveying the body of death as if it is the Kingdom of God. We do this when we maintain any attachment to the law. All may have a Sabbath life when Christ is their life. But we can miss the boat when a sabbath is our life. None who promote the law are keepers of the flame. But they are keepers of the lame. We can minister a gospel of life unto life or we can minster from a private identity and another gospel as sellers of religion. But we should keep in mind what Jesus said about leading the vulnerable and naïve astray: 'If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea' Mark 9. 42 NIV.
