Neville Castonbury (not his real name) maintained his delivery run. He was the milkman in a country town. Thanks to Neville, gleaming bottles of milk awaited the breakfasts of those eager to begin their day, and those not so eager. Neville distributed nutrition every morning. Despite pleas from those who loved him, he would not see the doctor - even though his lung capacity was parlous. The truth was that Neville had pulmonary fibrosis.

Without proper lung function, Neville could not extract sufficient oxygen from the air. Without a genuine gospel of the Kingdom we cannot access the fullness of life that is ours in rich abundance in Jesus. So we exist in ‘normal’ life in semi-suffocation. This why although all belong in the Body of Christ we need to live in the Real Christ and His Real Gospel in order to escape the suffocation of. cunningly devised fables.

We cannot hope to grow without healing. It’s a pattern of creation. Jesus healed as a sign. A sign of His love and a sign that He is the healer of our relationship with Father and our relationship with ourselves. We need a healed life and there is one on offer. It’s our rebirth into Christ as our life. Often we remain unhealed because of poor doctrine. We need our ideas to be healed. We need our un-gospels excised. We need healing for things that fester or debilitate. Things we have long believed and have no business as ‘A Believer’ in believing. Because God does not believe them about Himself or about you.

Once Satan learned that Christ had become life for all he decided to invents ‘christ’s who were not Christ and gospels that are not Christ’s Gospel. The cleverest ploy of the Enemy since the cross has been to dilute the gospel, assimilate it to the principles of the original lie, and manufacture ingenious and subtle false christs that deceive many who were meant to be the elect.

We can walk in circles rationalising that we are doing well because God has blessed some aspect of our ministry, without realising that He would have blessed it much more if we had brought our mistaken ideas to the cross, so that we would be amenable to His revelation and the fullness of an adventure in His light. The cross is surgery for bad ideas and for our life.

‘Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again’ John 3.3 NIV.

We can always do better as an eagle than a chicken. Richard Rohr writes, “By and large, what human beings want is resurrection without death, answers without doubt, light without darkness, the conclusion without the process.” (1)

A Christ life rather than a ‘Christian life’ enlarges our being. But it means death to our Adam self and oneness with our Jesus self.

We see the Kingdom when we are born again. This includes us and our ideas of God and of ourselves. As we die to our Adam-Self and rise to our Jesus-Self our veils and favourite deceptions fall away in the Baptism of His life.

In the knowledge of good and evil mindset we earn a place in God – at least we try to. Our mouth might speak that we all belong but our heart believes that belonging must be earned. As a result no matter what passage of scripture we read or what doctrine we seek to apply we interpret it in a (well disguised) mean and ‘earning’ way because we do life out of the law or from the law’s image.

Christ cannot become Himself for us in the law. A Christ who is a christ of the law is not the Christ of God, and neither can He be the Christ for us. The Christ of God lives out of His Father so that we can so live and more – so that we can live out of the trinity and the trinity can live out of us. The result is that we have entered the real circle of life – a flow of spirit and life that flows from the trinity to us and from us to people and back to the trinity. This is the alpha and omega of life and the life that is real and not shadow.

We can live in a deformed ‘Christianity.’ Doing our best with a stiff upper lip and surviving on one lung or less. Surviving rather than flourishing because ‘our gospel’ is not the Christ’s gospel, not our inheritance and not the Gospel of the Kingdom. It’s a diluted and distorted gospel of the kind that Paul called ‘another gospel’ that attracts a curse. Then again we can bring ourselves and our ideas to the cross and be born again with new spiritual lungs and a new level of spirit-oxygenation.

If you have a V/8 engine in your car you have a lot of power at your disposal. But if it is running on two cylinders you don’t have much at all. It’s the difference between living in Adam and living in Christ our life.

An old covenant mindset will deny every one the full oxygenation of their inheritance in Christ. The cross is our surgery for bad gospels and for the rooting out of tares. In Jesus the veils and gangrenous flesh are removed. ‘Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation’ Gal 6.15 NIV.

‘Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life’ John 5.24 NIV.
