REAL JESUS. REAL YOU. REAL GOSPEL
J Baxter Kruger’s book Patmos is a good read because it contains current revelation. By that I mean info Jesus wants us to know in this current season. The revelation is not new. It is the revealing of what has always been, seldom understood and cunningly robbed by the thief and robber of life. But this revelation is the light and the way. For you. Now.
Simply put it is this: You are in the Father and He is in you.
SPIRIT AND TRUTH
The argument is made that we need to know the REAL JESUS, the Jesus of reality rather than shadows and fables. Just as Jesus came to reveal Father, so Father and Holy Spirit reveal Jesus. If God is I AM then being Himself is important to Him and to you. Life is generated when He is known as Himself and when we live as who we are. It’s called spirit and truth.
‘God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth’ John 4.24 NIV.
A straight God means a straight you. If John the Baptist straightened the way, Jesus is THE WAY. Only Jesus Knows Father and only Father knows Jesus. Both know you. You are known as you are in God and become who you are in God. The real Jesus is made known to you because He is in you and with you. Jeremiah's concept of the law written on hearts is vastly exceeded by the realty of Christ our life. IT’S EXCEEDED BECAUSE CHRIST BY THE SPIRIT BECOMES YOU!
REAL YOU STANDS UP
Father, Son and Spirit dwell in your heart with the result that you live in your heart, from your heart and become your heart’s desire. Since Christ is your life, you are your life. You are alive because you are yourself in spirit truth. Being worshipers in spirit and truth is more than holy motions. It is being sons, being our real selves before God and being real among our brothers in the world.
Should we live from the law instead of Christ our life we are like eagle’s eggs that never hatch. Slaves and workers live from the law. Sons and daughters are the manifestation of Christ.
Only when we are one with Jesus are we sons because He is the son of God in Spirit and in truth. Any perspective that interprets the Bible or the gospel through the law distorts the word of God, mangles your inheritance and wrongly divides the word of truth. Have nothing to do with them.
‘If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them’ Titus 3.10 NLT.
You can be your authentic self rather than a false self. This will be you when you have the genuine gospel and the real Jesus. This is not some theological feat. But it does mean you will allow nothing, no belief or long held assumption to prevail, that does not align with the gospel of Jesus and the apostles. Some of us will be relieved to abandon wrong ideas. Others will need to off load their entire denominational teaching, since it is delusional. This will be worthwhile because you will leave behind religion and enter the realm of spirit and life.
‘So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord--who is the Spirit--makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image’ 2 Cor 3.18 NLT.
Veils for some are the religion they were raised in. When you have chosen Christ as Lord, you will not abide teaching that is familiar but false or cherished but distorted. You will not idolise your received perspective because it is your identity and security blanket. You will not abide an elephant in the room because its suffocating weight brings you a perverse comfort. Having placed your ideas at the cross your Adam is dead and your Jesus is you. A decision to worship the Christ of God means that all veils of misunderstanding and false doctrine will eventually be removed. Your journey will consist of the constant separation of light from darkness and increased revelation of the knowledge of Christ in spirit and in truth.
‘The path of the righteous [and unconditional seeker of the truth of God] is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day’ Prov. 4.18 NIV.
But we need to be clear of one thing. You become who you are not by the anointing or by spiritual gifts but by being sons of our Father. We know ourselves as we are by being joined to Father as sons. The anointing grows from our union with God; from this spirit of Sonship. You are in the Father and He is in you because Jesus has made this so.
LIFE OF REMAINING
‘Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me’ John 15.4 NIV.
We need to accurately know who God is, what He has done for us and who we are as a result. This is the knowledge of God. This permits us to rightly discern the word of truth. It comes to us by revelation and from the person of Jesus. This is why we need the real Jesus and not the Jesus of conjecture, introspection and special pleading. Each person has unfettered access to Jesus. In the Believer Jesus is alive and with us. In those yet to believe He is not far away. Holy Spirit lives to draw all from a mere knowledge of God to union with God to share His life without limit.
Someone wrote, ‘We are participants in the divine nature.’ Indeed we are, when we and Father are one. And when we are in the Christ of God. Not one in a false christ, not one in a law subordinate christ or a christ who is the figment of the religious imagination. We participate in Father’s life when the Christ of God is our life.
The spirit of antichrist is actively engaged in warping our view of Jesus, because in seeing Jesus we see our Father. In the real Jesus we know our origin and destiny and enjoy genuine union with God and the universe. The relationship of humanity and God is family. But I digress.
KNOWING GOD, KNOWING YOU
To know Jesus is to know God. To see Jesus is to see God. It is also to see yourself. He is not just what you may become. He is who you are. Father, son and Holy Spirit insist on your worship of the real Christ and work to secure your involvement with Him in spirit and in truth instead of cunningly devised fables.
There's the ‘I AM’ JESUS and the Jesus of religion and institutionalism. Is your Jesus Himself? Is He the Christ of God? Or is He some figment, you, your denomination and Christian myth have hatched up!
There’s a book title I saw recently: ‘How the World was Taken over by Mumbo-Jumbo.’ I saw it in Dymocks on the holidays. It's relevant here. It's not OK for your world view and sense of being to be nonsense. Truth is a person. He will set you free and deliver you into joy. He is Jesus the Christ of God. He will reveal Himself to all who ask. In Jesus, the Christ of God you will never walk in darkness but have the light of life!
