The foundation of the New Creation is the incarnation. Christ in you is the result of the at-one-ment that makes us reconciled to God. Francois Du Toit observes with great discernment, ‘Our experience of God’s presence has its reference in our understanding of our oneness. We are not more one when we 'feel' whacked or get the goosebumps and less one with God when we feel nothing! Our union is a constant because of God’s doing, we live and move and have our being in him, nowhere else. That’s the truth; nothing defines us more than this light of life that shone into our hearts to give us understanding that we are in him who is true (1 Cor 1:30, Acts 17:28 and 1 John 5:20). This is sound doctrine. You don’t have to feel the Presence. Since the cross the Presence is in you. Faith is believing what is real and living from this reality.
God’s Glory is not necessarily bright lights and amazing signs, although this may be part of it. The whole of God’s glory is who God is. We see God’s glory in the Christ of God. God’s glory is to be who God is as is yours and mine. To enter your glory is to leave behind the daggs of rebellion and the husks of religion so that Christ is totally our life. This is incarnation and its result is the New Creation.
The anti-christ spirit works relentlessly to reduce the fullness of Christ. The Enemy and hoards of deceiving spirits relentlessly pit themselves against fullness in Christ, seeking to reduce this fullness in any way at all. Any reduction in Christ is an increase in death. The anti-christ spirit strives to replace the Spirit of Christ as you with the law as you in order to separate you from God, paralyse your sonship and thwart the new creation Kingdom of God that flows from Father, through us into the needy people and places of the world.
If the Enemy can form us into a Christian Abstraction rather than a son/daughter of God, he is very pleased.
‘Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world’ 1 John 4.1-3 NIV. The religious spirit is anti-grace and anti- incarnation.
Law-based religion is the law come in our flesh. It’s a religion of the flesh and a reversion from Christ to Adam. Denominations have arisen in this vein, which marks an unfortunate reversion to futility. Others passively adopt religion as a way of life. This is robs us of spirit and life because it is a form of the knowledge of good and evil. Every law-based religion is of this culture.
John warns Believers against the spirit of anti-christ. This spirit of subtly seeks to annul Christ in you and replace it with you in you doing all kinds of observances as a form of godliness. Yet the gospel of the Kingdom is simple and powerful. It is Christ come in our flesh. Jesus manifest as us, is our releasing His spirit/life and authority because we and Father are one.
Satan is happy to have us involved in externalities and habits even if they are done towards Christ and in His name. He would rather have us products of the Christian Industry than sons of God in whom Christ lives, moves and has His being.
‘I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 NIV.
So long as we do not catch on to the simple reality that transcends this shadow life – that Christ has come in our flesh and that the trinity dwells in our being, Satan is satisfied. We are disempowered. His reign is extended and he can continue with what he does best – creating mayhem, chaos, pain and death. But we are harbingers of life when Christ is our life and we are dead to religion. With Jesus as our life we are the expression of God. We are life and we multiply it simply by being ourselves. We are the representatives and manifestation of Father, Son and Holy Spirit wherever we happen to be. This is glory that is real.
