CHRIST YOUR LIFE

PEOPLE FULLY ALIVE

“The Glory of God is a human being fully alive.”  ― Irenaeus of Lyons

In some Christian communities one may be taught that the law is the chief issue between man and God. Fortunately, the truth is that God is the Chief Issue between man and God. The truth of this issue is that God has joined us to God in Himself. The Christ is our union with God. The essence of our God is Trinity.

TRINITARIAN ONENESS ENFOLDS US IN THIS ONENESS

In The Undoing of Adam, Baxter Kruger writes, “The doctrine of the Trinity means that relationship, that fellowship, that togetherness and sharing, that self-giving and other-centeredness are not afterthoughts with God, but the deepest truth about the being of God. The Father is not consumed with Himself; He loves the Son and the Spirit. And the Son is not riddled with narcissism; he loves his Father and the Spirit. And the Spirit is not preoccupied with himself and his own glory; the Spirit loves the Father and the Son. Giving, not taking; other-centeredness, not self-centeredness; sharing, not hoarding are what fire the rockets of God and lie at the very center of God’s existence as Father, Son and Spirit.”
TORPOR MARKETED AS RELIGION
The belief that the law is instrumental in securing our relationship with God dilutes the life of God in many Believers and suffocates it in Believers who have made a ‘gospel’ from the law and turned law-mongering into a denomination.
YOUR ORGIN IS NOT A POND SCUM OR AN ABSTRACTION
Some of the most irritating people to work with are those who make any simple task complicated. Our Gospel is simple and profound because simply stated it is Christ woven into our being by the Spirit and manifesting as Jill and George.
CHRIST IN YOU/CHRIST AS YOU
‘Jesus said to them, "Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you’ John 6.53 NIV.
When we believe and live Christ as our life we eat and drink the Son of Man.
ULTIMATE PERSON
We were birthed from God. The trinity is the chief fact about God and God’s relationship to humanity. The location of our personhood and salvation is persons and not abstractions. The epistemology of the knowledge of good and evil is abstraction. The epistemology of the post cross age is spirit and life. The trinity and not the law is the hub of the universe. The core of the cosmos is personal and not abstract. And you are included in what Paul calls the Holy Family (Eph 3.15).

We take our life and our knowing from the nature of God who has enfolded us in the Holy Family and revealed His nature and our own nature in the person of Jesus Christ. Martin Davis has some helpful observations about the trinity.

THE TRINITY

The Holy Trinity is not three “gods.” The Holy Trinity is “One God,” who exists in “three persons.” The three persons of the Trinity are united in a fellowship of love. Therefore, we say that God is “one” (see Deuteronomy 6:4). After God made man and woman (Adam and Eve), God commanded them to become “one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). Two persons united in marriage are “one flesh.” In the Holy Trinity, “three persons” eternally united in a fellowship of love are “One God.” The Foundation of Faith The “Doctrine of the Holy Trinity” is the foundation of the Christian faith. All the major doctrines of Christianity are rightly seen only in the light of the Doctrine of the Trinity.” (1) Jesus is joined to us as fully God and as an emissary of the Holy Trinity.

THE HUB OF LIFE AND OF YOU

The trinity is alive because God is persons in relationship. The triune God who is love, light and light is the hub of being and the hub of the universe. The nature of God is reflected in the nature of human beings. God is three yet one. Each member of the trinity is part of each other, yet fully themselves. Theologians call this kind of oneness perichoresis in which the parties are part of each other and as a result fully themselves. As indicated by Davis above, a good marriage is a perichoretic relationship of unity in difference. This has relevance to the family and the church.

Davis elaborates on the foundational nature of the trinity. “
Man: Human beings are created in the “image of God.” Since God is a fellowship of three divine persons who enjoy an eternal relationship of love, God created human beings to live in relationships of love.

“Salvation: God created us to love us. Because God loves us, God will not allow human sin to destroy his loving plan for us. The Father sent his Son to save us from our sins and bring us back into relationship with himself. The Father and Son send the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts and to enable us to love God and one another.

“Church: The Church is the place where believers share and enjoy God’s love. The Church takes God’s message of love to the world.

“Last Things: God’s eternal plan for us is good. God created us to share forever in the love, life, joy and beauty of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” (2)

“Jesus Christ, in His infinite love, has become what we are, in order that He may make us entirely what He is." Irenaeus of Lyons
