Jesus relates to us irrespective of our ideas about Him. Over the holidays we stayed with a lady who lived in a stilted fundamentalism. But I saw that Jesus enjoyed being with her despite her views. Because that’s what He is like. GOD IS RELATIONSHIP and we were made for relationship. He loves to be with us and enter our being despite our theologies. Not that such views are irrelevant because they do effect our relationship with Him. Truth always matters. And grace is not an excuse for avoiding the truth by wrongly dividing the word of truth. Or persisting in un-truth. Or being a religious bigot. Or living in the body of death under the illusion that we are in the Spirit. Grace is the opportunity to embrace and grow into unfolding truth.
Truth matters. Punch in the wrong coordinates and you can fly your aircraft into Mount Erebus instead of flying over Antarctica.
It makes a difference to our lives if we see God as austere and a male version of a ‘we are not amused queen Victoria’ rather than who He is in Jesus. The story of Mary and Martha shows us that we nurture the heart of God and satisfy our own being better as a Mary than as Martha.
Jesus loved Martha but Mary was getting more of what was on offer. She was living in the truth. J Baxter Kruger, in his book Patmos, explains that people can love Jesus – yet hold quite twisted views of Him; views that arise from our own fears and which are often supported by the distorted theologies we have been taught from childhood. With the result that we can live in spiritual sepsis.
NO FALSE FACTS
Jesus ‘taught’ the Kingdom because truth is the difference between life and death; between being dead folks walking and people filled with His spirit and life. Sincerity does not give us spirit and life. The Christ of God does – alive and manifesting in our being.
Jesus came to undo a false narrative about God and ourselves. One false narrative that grazes like a sacred cow in circles were the truth of God has been subverted is that it’s ok to live in the old covenant. Well it’s not. It’s not ok to live in Adam when Christ is our life.
‘In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind’ John 1.4 NIV.
The truth is that our life in Adam is dead and a life in Jesus is yours. This is a life in His person in which you and He are one. It’s a life in which Jesus is in you by the Spirit revealing to you heart, soul and spirit the EXACT AND REAL NATURE OF HIMSELF, and who we are in Christ. The truth is that theologies that originated in Adam leave us weak and crippled in Adam. They suffocate and dilute our union with God and cripple our sonship. They leave us thinking we are in the body of Christ when we are actually in sepsis. Significantly Paul called this the body of death.
The truth is that in this age you can be the manifestation of Jesus Christ because you live in the Spirit of Sonship. The Spirit of Jesus is in you and will be expressed as you – if you believe – the truth that Christ is your life.
‘I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 NIV.
