“If the world hate you,” Jesus said in John 15:18, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

It’s not uncommon for those in torpor to resist spiritual truth and accuse those who demolish lies in order to expose truth and life – accuse them of operating from malice and evil intent. Jesus said that those who follow Him as Truth-Tellers and Life-Givers of His life would be persecuted just as He was. There is a malign antipathy to un-adulterated life that comes from the pit as an emanation of the mystery of iniquity. Such antipathy varies from passive accommodation to untruth to aggressive attacks on the Bearers of life and light. But why be a Saul when Jesus invites you to be a Paul?

If we are to know Christ and the power of His Resurrection in our lives we will have this knowing on the basis of participating with Him in His death and resurrection. Such knowing is not just knowing ‘stuff.’ It’s because we have become one with Christ on the grounds that we recognise that we need Him as our life and ‘know God’ in the sense of knowing a spouse. We are not born again until we have made this transition.

Yet oneness is not something we must do. It has been done for us. We participate by agreeing with Jesus that He has included us in His life.

Jesus Christ is a person and a story. “
When we indwell it, meditate upon it, tune into it, penetrate inside it and absorb it in our ourselves, and find the very foundations of our life and thought changing under the creative and saving impact of Christ, and are saved by Christ and personally reconciled to God in Christ, [it is then] that we believe in him as Lord and God. This does not come about, however, without renouncing ourselves in a repentant rethinking of all that we are and claim to know, that is, without our being crucified with Christ in heart and mind and raised to new life in him.” (1)

New birth includes becoming dead to our myths and alive in Christ to His Truth.
For many of us coming to the cross of Christ means bringing to that place of exchange much of what our parents have taught us and the majority of what we have been socialised into thinking is ‘Godliness’. Thus, Jesus announces,
‘Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me’ Matt 10.37 NIV.
Some of us although assured of heaven in Jesus Christ never develop as human beings in this life because we are stuck and stagnant in a mindset that dilutes who Christ is for us and numbs who we are for Christ.
Bent truth always cripples spirit and life. False gospels dull our individual humanity and imprison us in mediocre thought patterns. Aberrant gospels stifle the life of God in communities of faith and deprive people of wisdom and understanding. Heresies that denude Christ’s way of life without limit, limit life in every area of action.
Institutional religion, when its basis is the maintenance of false beliefs – in other words a lie -  decay over time because they are impelled to appoint as leaders people who are not intelligent or able. For the top executives of such organisations the imperative is to maintain the status quo; to maintain the lie; to keep the illusion in place by appointing the dim and barely capable as administrators in the institutions under their auspices. We may see this in government and in church government.
It’s a sad day when the Leader is the least intelligent person in the team.  A sad day when leaders think they are competent because they were appointed.  So incompetent are some that they spend much of their ‘leadership’ gaslighting those who are far more able than they.
People are not necessarily intelligent or able just because they have been appointed to leadership – In the Kingdom people are fit and able to lead when they are full of wisdom and the Holy Spirit.
Blessed are the poor in spirit. They will not occupy jobs for which they are not competent. And they will serve as who they are with great fruitfulness.
