‘The Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you’
John 14.17 NIV.

Jesus is not far from all people. But for those who have accepted Christ’s invitation to believe in Him, He is with them and in them. Jesus also said that those who believe in His name would be inhabited by the Holy Family who will make their home in them. Paul and John are more explicit saying that Believers are woven into God. This is the meaning of ‘Christ our life’ and ‘Christ come in our flesh’.

The enjoyment of God is not found in externalities. The joy of God is yours because God is in you and with you.

The facts of life are great for all in the new testament age. The truth is that Jesus is in you and with you always. You are never alone. You are indwelt. And despite your performance - you belong. It helps to believe this truth because what we think is real, is the reality in which we live. This is say that we make our reality out of our mindset.

Thus we need the mind of Christ and not some concoction that is our own perspective. There are religious perspectives that make us one with the Kingdom and perspectives that deny it by implication.

Christ’s Gospel is that we have union with God. ‘Other gospels’ are that we earn this union. You have intimacy with Christ because He earned it. Not because you earned it.

Thus we need the mind of Christ and the gospel of the Kingdom. Since the deceit in the Garden and the fall, the issues of life have been about narratives. Whose narrative? God’s or the father of lies? There are lies for the rebel and lies for the naively religious. The latter involves the prolonging of the knowledge of good and evil as a pseudo ‘gospel.’

Thus we aim to possess the mind of Christ, live in the intention of God, adhere to His gospel of the Kingdom and revel in the
successful enterprise of father, son and Holy Spirit . Always remember that reality is Christ and fake news has but one source.

While the trinity is in you and with you, it’s a good idea to invite Holy Spirit to enter our day or our project. It shows honour and worship. Jesus said ‘Don’t leave your Jerusalem without being baptised by Holy Spirit.’ You can do this yourself or invite others to pray over you. The result is that your efforts are overlaid with ‘power from on high.’ Sometimes the presence of Holy Spirit is manifest. Sometimes not. The Spirit is present, however whether you feel anything or not. Remember that the main manifestation of the Spirit of Christ is you – as a daughter or a son, you are the expression of God where you are. You are incarnated with the trinity. So don’t wait for a feeling. Operate from fact.

Joe McIntyre writes, “
There is a teaching that emerged in the Middle Ages that is being taught by some today. It explained periods of feeling as though God had withdrawn His presence as "The Dark Night of the Soul." What if these periods were nothing more than an increase in demonic oppression? What if they came, not so God could teach us, but so we could learn to live by faith and not by how we feel? What if their lesson was, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you?"
Paul, when describing our warfare against principalities and powers, tells us, "Having done all to stand, stand therefore!

‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14:20

What does REALISE mean? It means to actualise the truth. God is truth. Jesus is God’s truth revealed. Holy Spirit is God’s reality come in your flesh, in your situation. You have this joy in jars of clay – your body. God is in and with you not only when you need Him because your Mum is dying. He is in you in your life. As a lover of life Father wants to share life with you. He invites you to share yourselves and your days with Him.

The Self-revealing of the Word is in every dimension - above, in creation; below, in the Incarnation; in the depth, in Hades; in the breadth, throughout the world. All things have been filled with the knowledge of God.”  ― Athanasius of AlexandriaOn the Incarnation.

Humanism is pretty much absorbed with externalities. It’s all about ‘doing.’ That which changes the world is ‘being.’ There’s being that is transformative and externalities that move the deck chairs around a little. I’m speaking of the spiritualities that are not the expression of Jesus. Having our being in Jesus to the extent that He is our life makes a difference at the time and into eternity.

Despite any appearance, God is in you and with you. You are indwelt by God and you are His representative where you are. God is not with you because you learned memory verses, because you can remember a text or summon Him up with a promise box. He is continually with you and in you. This is the age of the Spirit. The age when we are called to realise and live in this truth: ‘Realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. This is your inheritance, your daily bread, your joy and the hope of the world.
