The miser has a small mind and small ideas. Limited to hanging on to what she has, she gets smaller with age. If we are a live tree and not a dead one our life will be an adventure – series of new births that are our glory to glory. New birth is a time when we awaken to God’s reality – the Reality that we are included in when Jesus is our life. Or it can be a just a holiday in which we refresh ourselves to continue walking ar0und our Mulberry Bush

We can live in the illusion that reality is divided into God’s realm and our realm, God’s Time and my time. This is the hallucination of the knowledge of good and evil and a religion steeped in the law. Christ is our life, imbuing His Spirit into all of our life. Holy as God is holy because we are one with God, we exult in a holy life.

The cross and resurrection has achieved our union with God – the realisation of the Original Plan for God to have sons and daughters to exult in the rich life of the triune God.

Eternal life begins now. Jesus urged that eternal life is knowing God. We can apprehend God from an old covenant standpoint. But we do not begin to know God in any depth until we exist religion and enter the union with Him that is already ours: Rebirth. Jesus indicated to Nicodemus that we do not become one with His Kingdom until we are born from religion into oneness with Him.

The miser lives to survive. Sons and daughters live in the riches of union with God. This provides them with the spirit and life that is the difference between kings and priests and dead men walking. Should we ignore the new covenant we are joined to the law whether or not we do all the laws or just one. We can access droplets of life from an old covenant positions but not rivers. We can be sons of the slave woman in an old covenant mindset but not sons of God – we are sons and daughters generically but not in spirit and in truth until Christ is our life. Capture in Adam we must make do with religious assertions instead of authenticity of being.

In the new covenant we are not morally superior to others. But we are a higher order of being, which is to say that we are actual sons of God instead of notional sons according to law and its definitions. ‘The letter’ is never a live tree.

Many are unaware that they can be sons of God. They even see this as a presumptuous supposition. However God is more generous than we imagine and our status when Christ is our life is far superior to religion as our life with its form of godliness and deficit of spirit and life.

If you have laboured under the supposition of ‘original sin’ now would be a good time to drop it. We were created to share in the joy the triune God enjoyed in ‘simply being’. Negativism, morbidity and false piety have are the effusions of death. Not of our creation and redemption. James urges us to consider even trials joy so that we can see everything that happens in the light of our the increasing life that is ours and which we are being drawn into in Christ.

The life we live and the status of our being is what we believe. When Adam and Eve believed Satan the elevation of their being subsided, their mindset shrunk and reality changed subjectively and objectively for the worse. When Christ is our life we return to the status of sons of God in spirit and in truth. We change and we begin to change reality - we becoming agents of the new creation. Religious people are not agents of the new creation. They are agents of the old*.

“There is an unkind statement in the Book of Revelation that the Lord, if he does not find him hot, would rather see him cold, but finding him only lukewarm, warm, he will spew him out of his mouth. What, then, will become of such a man's theology-though, perhaps, in its special bracket it was far from being the worst?” (1)

There are gospels that produce luke-warm life. They are any gospel that is an addition or subtraction from Christ our life. Don’t settle for an insipid life in the present in which you mutter, ‘Wont it be great when we get to heaven.’ With the trinity incarnated in our being we have the capacity to water our surroundings with the spirit and life of heaven.

The parable of the talents is about degrees of spirit and life.

Sincerity and a consistent life tied to the law is not without benefit. But grace is not a replacement of truth. It’s an opportunity to grow into truth’s fullness. We can live out our life as a one talent person when we could have been a Ten Talent man or woman, living in the complete gospel of Christ our life. We cannot ‘be hot’ as an old covenant Believer no matter how sincere or active we may be. We are hot when Jesus is us, which is more a rest than a stretch. His yoke is easy but it makes us spirit and life.

* Religion is a more subtle form of the knowledge of good and evil. Incarnation is union with God – restoration and advance.
