His Kingdom in you and the world

We can live in the Christian version of a poverty mentality or we can live in the riches of our inheritance: Christ our life. To live from the law is to live from a version of the Fall while to live the incarnation is to be one with Christ in the resurrection. Are you living from the first Adam or the Second Adam?

‘For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive’ 1 Cor 15.22 NIV. In Christ we are alive in our spirit. Never dead men walking or dead women talking. Christ our life is life in the Spirit. An old covenant life plus the gifts is not.

In Christ we participate in the same kind of fellowship with God that is the communion of the trinity. We do this because we are not living in the separation that is the law but because Christ has come in our flesh. We have oneness with God.

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. Easter is also the celebration of the resurrection of each of us. In Adam we died. In Christ we are made alive every day. Easter is a celebration of the end of our truncated semi-life in Adam and the ever present real life as our real selves in Jesus.

You have union with God now. None of the Greats of the old testament had it. It’s the result of the atonement and the incarnation and it’s yours.

“The doctrine of the Holy Trinity gives expression to the fact that through Jesus Christ and in his Spirit God has opened himself to us in such a way that in being reconciled to him we lowly sinful creatures may know him, at least in some measure, in the inner relations of his divine Being and have communion with him in his intra-trinitarian Life as Father, Son and Holy Spirit” (Thomas Torrance, The Christian Doctrine of God, 32)

Because Christ is our life Resurrection is our life. Thus every defeat contains the possibility of a new start with renewed life in a new dimension of Christ’s life as us. This is our inheritance. It is the difference between our lives in Paul’s slave woman and the Free Woman. The Free Woman is the new Eve who is of the Body of Christ. The Bride of Christ comes from the side of the New Adam. Just as Old Eve was bone of Adam’s bone and flesh of His flesh so the Believer in Jesus is the actual expression of the new Adam in spirit and in truth.

In this age the law is irrelevant. What counts is that you and Christ are one and that you are the expression of Jesus because you come out of His side in the Spirit.

We can live our entire Christian Life in the letter if we choose. But in doing so we rob ourselves and the Kingdom of the incarnated being of God manifesting as us. Paul said the letter kills because it does. All who live from law live their unlife in the letter no matter how sincere they may be.

The Kingdom was never a Belief System. It is the trinity with you and manifesting through you and as you.

“When we take the Resurrection symbol and its substance absolutely seriously, it moves us far beyond the stripped-down literal meaning where both atheists and fundamentalists flounder. It does not even have to mean “eternally enduring life in our current form or even in the future”; instead, it might also mean “a present life of eternal significance.” But surely it means a life of goodness and love, both of which have an eternal quality to them. For many of us, it is a life of “adopted” sonship and daughterhood, whereby we share in Jesus’ divine inheritance or are “heirs of the same promise,” the metaphors that Paul effectively uses.” (1)
