Jesus came among us to undo the theft of life and belonging that is ours in God. He replaced our alienation with incarnation – a union with God that some say is closer than the fellowship humanity had before the fall.
Whether we have what follows depends on whether we believe the truth or have been socialised into believing a lie. The truth of the ages is that Father is trustworthy and extravagantly loving. And we are the sons of God – included in Christ right now. God personally lives in us, His nature imbues us and we are incarnated with His qualities. Isaiah prophesied His nature and His life in us with the words,
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” Isa 9.6 NIV.
Just as the divine seed grew inside Mary’s womb, so the incarnated Christ grows within the self so that as ministers of the new covenant we grow in our sonship and we birth sons and daughters of God.
IN YOU AND WITH YOU
“We belong to the Triune life of God. As satisfied and complete as God is in Himself, He even so willed to be God for us, to exist neither next to mankind, or above mankind, but with mankind, as our brother and friend. Most importantly, God willed to be our God, the God of humanity. He is the One who loves in freedom, God for us. “God willed from all eternity not to be without man.” Simply, God desired the human race. We therefore belong to Him, we belong to the Great Dance, to the grand love affair that God is in Himself. This stunning fact is the sum of the Gospel.” (1)
