Christ is in you and with you and woven into your being. Yet there are Believers who have never experienced this or experienced it without knowing that this is the normal way to be a person and a son of God. We are not woven into God because we have kept some commandment or read a scripture such as this one.
‘And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns’ Phil 1.6.
We are woven into God because God has already woven us in Jesus.
Sometimes we latch onto such a scripture, repeating it and clinging to it as if our saintliness will make it so. But it already is so. We are woven into God because Jesus is part of us and He is human. Yet being human He is fully God and fellowshipping in the trinity. The consequence - God is in us and we are in God. This is the foundational reality of your life as a son/daughter of God.
Jesus urged that we know this truth and live in it so that this is our state of being: Union with God.
‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV. This is the day we are born again.
“That day” that John refers to in the second epigraph has been a long time in coming, yet it has been the enduring message of every great religion in history. It is the Perennial Tradition. Yet union with God is still considered esoteric, mystical, a largely moral matter, and possible only for a very few, as if God were playing hard to get. Nevertheless, divine and thus universal union is still the core message and promise—the whole goal and the entire point of all religion.
Place does not exist except in God. There is no time outside God. God is the beauty in all beauty. Those who allow divine friendship enjoy divine friendship, and it is almost that simple. You are that which you are looking for, and that is why you are looking for it. God’s life and love flow through you as soon as you are ready to allow it. That is the core meaning of faith—to dare to trust that God could, will, and does have an eternal compassion toward you. Everyone who asked Jesus to heal them or help them had somehow made that simple act of trust that he cared—and so the flow happened and they were healed. No other preconditions were ever required. It is really rather shocking.” (1)
There’s nothing religious about this life in God. It is ours. It is now and it is the new and living way lived by the sons of God.
This ‘way’ makes it possible to ignite any part of our life, our week and occupation with the Spirit of God so that a stream of spirit and life flows through us as it did from Jesus. You become an agent of the new creation. You do better than utter words like ‘Become the solution.’ You impart new creation life that is sourced from heaven to heal and make things new on earth. Jesus never makes things religious. He makes them alive!
