THE NOT EMPTY - RELIGIOUS CONSTRUCT- LIFE

Jesus tells us that in depth-life, aka eternal life, is ‘knowing God and Jesus Christ whom God has sent’. The triune God found a way of coming to us in the incarnation and weaving Godself into us by the person of Jesus and Holy Spirit. As part of this enterprise God is revealed to us from within and without and we take on God’s likeness as sons and daughters because we are imbued with His person.
 
ENFOLDED IN GOD
 
Due to the enterprise of God, we have been enfolded in God’s communion and we participate with God in fellowship with the trinity. Jesus is quite specific when He says, ‘We will make our home with them.’
 
‘No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him’ Matt 11.27 NIV. Jesus reveals Himself and the Father to us from this intimacy from within our being and from His companionship as our Tutor as we journey through life.
 
PARTICIPATING IN CHRIST’S RELATIONSHIP
 
Thomas Torrance emphasises the fact that “The Father /Son or Son/Father relationship falls within the very Being of God. That is to say, the Sonship embodied in Jesus Christ belongs to the inner relations of God's own eternal Being, so that when Jesus Christ reveals God the Father to us through himself the only begotten Son, he gives us access to knowledge of God in some measure as he is in himself.”
 
IT’S A STATE OF BEING
 
‘In Christ’ is a state of being one with Christ, gifted us by divine enterprise. In Christ God is woven into our being by the incarnation. God is with us and in us in a living communion that is neither religious or inhibiting. Christ our life means that the life of God is part of and mediated through us to all of our life. Christ in us means a thwarting of sin. But never an inhibiting of our humanity. It is only in being bound to Christ that we are freed to become human in the sense of being sons of God who live glorious lives of simply exulting in life.
 
SPIRIT AND LIFE COMES FROM CHRIST AS YOU
 
Captured in Christ you never have to live in someone else’s grid, other people’s view of ministry or in the shadow of some celebrity minister. When Christ is our life, we are liberated and authorised to minister the life that Jesus has accorded us in our domain of authority as us. This outpouring of life from you comes not from any qualification or acquisition of knowledge but from the you who is one with Christ. To be a self in Christ our life is to be a self-made in the image of Christ rather than a self who is made in the image of the world. False self/Real self is the difference between the son of the slave woman and the son of God.
