SEPARATION IS FINISHED
14/01/23 07:40
In the person of Jesus we are literally ‘enfolded in God.’ And this not by the cumbersome externalities of the law but in Christ Himself. Neither is this by self-recommendation, but by Christ whose action in real time has made us one with Himself, one with the triune God and one with others and the created realm.
SEPARATION IS OVER
All separation from Christ results in fragmentation and chaos. This is so if the separation is induced by religion or by rebellion. The essence of ‘being like gods’ is separation from God and separation from one’s true self. This is why legalism/knowledge tree living is an assault on sonship. We are never sons of God in spirit and truth while living from the ‘knowledge tree’.
ONE WITH GOD
The oneness that has become ours in Christ is the oneness in difference that is the nature of the trinity. We have been made one with God by God in the person of the Christ of God to be ourselves as sons/daughters of God. This is why legalism is such a preposterous perversion. It promotes the idea that we participate in the divine nature by doing bits of law. No way. We participate in the divine nature because we agree with Christ that He has included us in His life in God.
THE GREAT EXCHANGE
“Christ takes what is ours, sinful humanity, and gives us what is his, a perfect relationship with the Father. We are not only forgiven but, in Christ and by the Spirit, raised up to participate in the inner relations of God’s life.” (1)
