The parable of The Sower is very good news. It’s not a legalistic rant. It is not a rebuke to those burdened by addictions and favourite sins. It’s not about that. It’s a story about soil, garden’s and crops that grow in an old covenant mindset when God has given us the new covenant. We need to see it in the context of the tares, the yeast, the pearl of great price and the talents.
The Parable of the Sower is a lesson in where not to root ourselves to draw life into our being. This is the paddock in which people could have been rooted in Christ’s Being but chose to planted in Adam. The soil of Adam produces all that is described- rocks, weeds, crows and withered grain. The paddock that produces 100 fold is the paddock that is of those who have embraced their oneness ibn Christ’s life. The good news is that we need not engage in a life-long effort to receive Christ. We have been received into His life. The invitation is to live in the deep soil in which we have been rooted.
You have oneness with God. Grow from where you have been planted and woven into God. A life of struggle in sin consciousness will shrivel you. A life that is Christ as you will mature you as a son/daughter of God.
Jesus is the Sower, the seed and the soil. He came into the world as the Seed who is planted in the presence of God; the seed who is our bridge to our fellowship in the trinity and the Seed who is you and I – the seed who has embedded us in Himself in infinite and eternal life. In Jesus you are one substance with God. The word for one substance is sons.
‘Now if we are children, then we are heirs-- of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory’ Rom 8.17 NIV.
We do well to think on the glory rather than the sufferings. Nevertheless there will be suffering and it will come from those who deny our oneness with God, while maintaining the separation inherent in Adam and Moses. Religion castigated Jesus for claiming to be one substance with Father and it does so today. Reject this and live in the truth that you are an expression of Christ.
LIVE AND GROW
A friend once remarked that the Bible says, ‘Obey and Live.’ I agreed then as I did not know any better. I did not know that in the new covenant the deal is ‘Live to obey.’ Big difference when His life is yours.
All soils not Christ are barren granite and swathes of rock. Christianity is not necessarily Christ. Christ is Christ and in Him you are you. There are vast swathes of rock in the Strathbogie’s north of Melbourne. The ‘bogies’ are a picture of the law driven man and woman. The law will never make us human let alone a son of God.
If you have a daughter or a son you will know that they are part of the being of you and your wife. Similarly, we are part of the being of the trinity. We came from their womb and we have been brought back into union with them as adult companions by their enterprise.
God’s enterprise ensures the fulfillment of The Plan – the plan to have son/daughters who would share the joy of the trinity in its fellowship of delight. Athanasius observes, “What, then, was God to do? What else could He possibly do, being God, but renew His Image in mankind, so that through it men might once more come to know Him? And how could this be done save by the coming of the very Image Himself, our Saviour Jesus Christ? Men could not have done it, for they are only made after the Image; nor could angels have done it, for they are not the images of God. The Word of God came in His own Person, because it was He alone, the Image of the Father Who could recreate man made after the Image. In order to effect this re-creation, however, He had first to do away with death and corruption. Therefore He assumed a human body, in order that in it death might once for all be destroyed, and that men might be renewed according to the Image. The Image of the Father only was sufficient for this need.” (1) By the Spirit Christ lives in your body to impart to you His life, righteousness and life. GRACE Grace is much more than being accounted righteous. Grace is His life as ours in every way. In Jesus we always belong. We are growing into His likeness and always covered by His life as ours. ‘Realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. GEORGE AND MAVIS As sons we are renewed in Jesus’ image because He lives in us. He is woven into our being in the Spirit and as result God becomes expressed as you. Thus George and Mavis become the expression of God. Apart from this there is no law. Why would there be? What could be better than God becoming you? No. You don’t become God. But we do become sons in spirit and in truth. Believe as a Believer that you are one with God because you are. Live it. Rest in this state of being. Be it. As a fundamentalist and legalist we can possess a notional belonging to the body of Christ. But a legalistic-definitional claim is so notional that Paul calls this belonging ‘this body of death’. But we have been delivered from it! UNION THAT IS REAL UNION The gift of infinite life and genuine belonging is complete and free. Jesus says, ‘I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one— I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me’ John 17.22,23 NIV.
