CHRIST YOUR LIFE

MISSION

spiritto spirit00.001

Our Mission at Christ our Life is to undo death in all its forms, particularly the the kind of death that manifests as numbness of soul and absence of spirit and life. The Undoing of Death is Jesus Christ who is Christ our life. The subtleness of the Enemy’s strategy is to substitute Christ our life with the abstraction of religion/Christianity as our life.

WITHOUT SUBSTANCE

Some gospels are no more than gibberish, being a wide of the mark perversion of the Truth. Others are diluted into contractual versions of self-made grace and sanctification formularised to assuage the conscious or suggest entitlement. In these posts we “
challenge the theology .. and teaching  [that] makes salvation dependent upon our own efforts.” (1)

The author of the book of Hebrews appears sounds like Paul. Some say that the book is a sermon of Paul’s to Jews explaining how Jesus Christ transcends the law by replacing it with Himself, living in us by the Spirit. In any case
this is what life in Christ is: Incarnation.

SUBVERTED LIFE

Delinquent forms of Christianity attempt to enforce morality by legislation, by gaining political power. Subverted gospels attempt the same thing by legalism and self-effort. But we are told in Hebrews that the Christ of God brings about salvation and transformation through the ‘power of an infinite life’. John tells us that this life is woven into our flesh as Christ come in our being. Paul calls this Christ our life. It is known as the incarnation and as the vicarious humanity of Jesus.

CHRIST IN YOU

Thomas Torrance observes that “
The incarnate life of Jesus, and above all in his death, God does not execute his judgement on evil simply by smiting it violently away by a stroke of his hand, but by entering into it from within, into the very heart of the blackest evil, and making its sorrow and guilt and suffering his own.

And it is because it is God himself who enters in, in order to let the whole of human evil go over him, that his intervention in meekness has violent and explosive force. It is the very power of God. And so the cross with all its incredible meekness and patience and compassion is no deed of passive and beautiful heroism simply, but the most potent and aggressive deed that heaven and earth have ever known: the attack of God’s holy love upon the inhumanity of man and the tyranny of evil, upon all the piled up contradiction of sin.” (2)

SEPARATION AND DEATH UNDONE

This demolition of sin and death takes place in you and in us because we believe Christ and agree with Him that He has made us participants in His life and His fellowship with the trinity.

Myk Habets describes this “
Redemption through atoning sacrifice for the expiation of sin and guilt whereby God incarnate in Christ draws near to us and draws us near to himself, cleansing us through his blood, sanctifying and healing us by the power of his Spirit, ransoming us from servitude to the world, delivering us from slavery into liberty, from darkness to light, thereby constituting us as a new priesthood and a special people belonging to himself for ever.”  (3) This is the New Covenant and Christ our life.
