IT'S NOT SOMETHING AND NOTHING
Good works and works of charity do not define us as Godly. Christ in us defines us as Godly. We are Godly in a state of being called the Spirit of Sonship. Rootedness in the trinity is the source of deeds that impart spirit and life. Other endeavours are commendable but they are not the Kingdom of God until we live in what is already ours: union with God.
We are not worthy because we did deeds. We are worthy because we are daughters and sons.
It is because Christ Himself is our life that law-based, legalistic theologies posing as the gospel must be seen as the parody of God’s life that they are. Such theologies exist as an explicit containment of the self and communities in the old covenant, albeit with Jesus help. Or they graze as sacred cows as a more subtle version of the law in the form of christianity as a system and culture of behavior modification. Where ever Christianity is a religion rather than the person of Jesus, we have containment in the law and the knowledge of good and evil and so become subject to its blindness and un-life.
How does the person of Jesus get to be us. That’s the mystery and the reason why the real presence in us can be called mysticism.
‘I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— THE MYSTERY that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which IS CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory’ Col 1.25-27 NIV.
The incarnation is the core of new creation life. Wherever it is absent or annulled by ‘other gospels’ those under this opiate are denied real spirit and life.
Jesus did not leave us a moral program. He did not leave us. He has come in our flesh and is the Spirit within. The Spirit who manifests as George and Jill Everyperson.
Athanasius makes the radical pronouncement, “Christ was made man that we might be made God.” We are not divine but we are sons of God. Leanne Payne’s revelatory book, Real Presence is an account of the reality in which we live today: Union with God.
Jesus quoted from the Psalms saying ‘ Ye are gods.’ The lie of Satan has always been that humans are less than they are. We were sons of God before the Enemy sowed his lie of doubt and we have become sons of God in reality and as a state of being because Christ is our life; because the trinity lives in us and because we have been included in the life of the trinity in fellowship with Jesus.
“Jesus Christ Himself is the saving act of God. All that we say about salvation and redemption must not be said behind the back of Jesus Christ. It is all summed up in who He is. He is our salvation. He is God who has become man, taking our cause upon Himself, and redeeming the human race from within. Truly, as J. B. Torrance writes, the “Person and work must not be separated.” (1)
