His Kingdom in you and the world

We are in need of grace to escape the degradations of sin and we should utilise grace as a door to escape from the tunnel of deception – the non-gospel- that some of us have lived in for our entire lives. Grace will get us into heaven but it will not fill us with spirit and life when we insist in burying much of our inheritance in the ground.

The one bag man releases droplets but never rivers of living water.

‘Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed’ Matt 25.24 NIV. This man received little because he believes in limitation and denies life in the Spirit.

The intent and enterprise of the trinity has always been to multiply the Kingdom by making each of us a manifestation of Jesus. This does not occur by Jesus using His power to conform us to an agenda like the law. It happens when we allow, invite and exult in the reality of Jesus as us. This is life in the Spirit. Life in the law with the gifts added is a botched inheritance.

The touchstone of truth and distinct from the lie is Christ expressed as us. ‘This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God 1 John 4.2 NIV. John warns that the law come in the flesh is the spirit of anti-christ.

Our glory is Christ come in our flesh with the result that you and the church are the manifestation of Christ in the world. The real meaning of the Body of Christ is that Christ is us. It’s not an excuse to develop our own gospels. Not a reason to purvey a partisan ideology that subtracts from the accomplishments of God for us and leaves people as cripples while touting itself as some divinely given ‘perspective.’

Jeff Turner observes that, “Whatever grace is, it is not something that encourages us to go on in sin or to live in immorality as some claim. On the contrary, it teaches us to say no to sinful behavioural patterns and ungodliness. It not only saves us from sin, but empowers us to live free from its influence.” (1)

Not only this. Grace is a person – Jesus Himself continually offers us new dimension of life by removing veils of deception that have attached themselves to our patterns of thought. He and clarifies the fullness of the inheritance that is ours that always has been. Jesus is the undoing of lies and theft in person.

The most debilitating deformities come not from sins of the flesh but from sins of the spirit and the soul – sins resulting from a wilful resistance to truth and the insistence that what we have is true because we want to believe it. The results of such vanity can be seen in the spread of Trumpism and the growing disaster of climate change. For those with eyes to see this is a parable of what happens in the community of Christ when we cling to cunningly devised fables and doctrines of demons.

There is always a way out and this way is through humility, obedience and a fresh baptism into the New and Living Way.
