DRAWN INTO THE HOLY COMMUNION

In Jesus Christ we are presented to our Father which is to say that your presentation to our Father is Jesus Christ. Thus grace is Christ and grace can be described as the vicarious humanity of Christ.

FULFILS YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS

As the incarnate Son of the Father Jesus Christ had been sent to fulfil all righteousness both as priest and as victim, who through his one self-offering in atonement for sin has mediated a new covenant of universal range in which he presents us to his Father as those whom he has redeemed, sanctified and perfected for ever in himself.” (1)

The result of this is that when Paul speaks of Christ our life, this is partly what he means. But Paul also means that being incarnated into us by the Spirit, Christ becomes us and we mature into our glory as sons/daughters of God. We are the mediation of Christ.

REALIZE-UNDERSTAND - EMBRACE

‘Realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. Take this on board. Make it your own and God becomes who you are in Christ. We are also holy because of Christ. Without the reality of the incarnation as our inheritance and possession the command to ‘be holy as God is holy’ is an impossibility. In Christ we are holy by designation and by participating in the divine nature – but not through the law.

But because Christ is in us and becomes us as He is woven into our being. Your life as a holy and whole person does not happened because you gained success in ‘keeping close to Jesus.’ Peace, comfort, holiness and grace is ours because Christ is in us and with us.

YOU ARE HOLY

You are holy because Jesus fulfilled the covenant from both sides. Torrance continues, “
We are to understand the two-fold ministry of Jesus, from God to man and from man to God. In biblical language, He fulfilled the covenant from both sides: 'I will be your God, and you will be my people.' 'I am holy, be you holy.'” (2)
