BEING PRECEDES KNOWING
22/01/23 15:17

If we are not careful, spiritual realities can seem opaque. We may not be able penetrate to the core of the matter and could find ourselves unable to perceive the real state of affairs in a given situation. Spiritual discernment is not a function of ‘knowledge’ or words of knowledge. It is a function of our new covenant union with God and our ability to see as Good sees.
‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it’ John 1.5 NLT
BETTER THAN BEFORE
We were made to live in God. The fruit of the Fall, which was entirely unexpected by the Enemy is that the ‘rise’ of humanity in Jesus, has resulted in a degree of union that exceeds our pre-fall state of being. In Jesus, we and our Father are one, which makes us privy to many things, not only to the mind of Christ, but to the mind of the trinity.
LIGHT AND LIFE
Our new covenant privileges make us participants in the fellowship of the trinity.
We were made to live in God and now we do – when we embrace the reality we have been given. ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV. The day we realise this is the day we have been born again in spirit and in truth in contrast to a mere notional new birth.
PRE-LIFE MODE
One is never re-born while attached to the law even by the smallest strand. The law contains us in the old Adamic life. The law can never be anyone’s life although many have tried to make it so. But it cannot make a person complete – it leaves us in a tangle of competing claims and chaffing attempts at avoiding wrong and doing right.
Here we may obtain the illusion of ‘certainty’ and the false confidence of ‘religion.’ Opinions of spiritual insight offered in this net are misguided although given with unwarranted confidence. If a marrow has spiritual discernment then so does anyone ensconced in layers of law or just one law. Law and religion - they are generically the same. They insulate us from union with God and smother the light.
UNION
Should we enter the state of being as sons and daughters, we have departed dualism and been woven into who we are: The sons and daughters of God. We can enter this new and living way to day by choosing Jesus as our life without exception. This allows Him to draw us into the trinity and weave us into their fellowship and joy. This state of being is a way of thinking. It’s what is meant by the Spirit instead of the letter.
HAS ITS PLACE
“A binary system of either/or choices is good and necessary in the lofty worlds of logic, mechanics, mathematics, and science, and in the everyday world of knowing whether to turn left or right to get from point A to point B. It produced the scientific and industrial revolutions that have served us so well in many areas. But these have begun to show their severe limitations, and this mind can take us only so far; it cannot access eternal things. It is not the tree of life, but only the tree of “this or that.” (1) Left versus right thinking with its false contrasts is an example of the knowledge of good and evil dichotomising running rampant. The effect is disintegration.
PERCEPTION
The world of things, of right and wrong, of well-being and disease is more subtle than left and right. Casting the world into a left/right dichotomy is lazy thinking as well as just plain misguided. The world is more complex, more subtle than this. It comes neither in packages or slogans. Life comes from life and real life comes from the persons – the persons of the trinity who are God.
PERICHORESIS
Similarity and difference is the heart of the universe. Jesus and the Father were one. They still are. Since you are in Christ, you and Father are one. This being so you are not only one with God but one with the logos – the divine order of the universe. Jesus is our escape from the dualism of ‘either or.’ He is the Door to being. Which means that with Jesus as our life we are alive and a branch of the tree of life – and no longer a dead twig on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
LIFE AND LIFE IS CHRIST
Life and light is the person of Jesus Christ who lives in you. We will not be walking in a fog or in a mirage of false certainty if we live from our inheritance which is ‘I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV.
John describes what it means to walk in the light.
‘The beginning mirrors the Word face to face with God. (Nothing that is witnessed in the Word distracts from who God is.” If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.” [John 14:9])
The Logos is the source; everything commences in him. He remains the exclusive Parent reference to their genesis. There is nothing original, except the Word! His life is the light that defines our lives. (In his life man discovers the light of life.) The darkness was pierced and could not comprehend or diminish this light.’ John 1.2-5 Mirror Bible
