AS A RESULT OF CHRIST'S STEPS - YOU ARE IN CHRIST AND IN GOD
BAPTISED INTO HIS REVELATION OF THE TRUTH
‘All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him’ Matt 11.27 NIV.
JESUS THE LIGHT
Jesus’ knowledge of Father is exclusive as is Father’s knowledge of Jesus. Or at least it was. While Christ and the Father being deity, posses a quality of knowing each other t0 which we are not privy, we have been included in Jesus’ knowing of our Father and in Father’s knowing of Jesus.
In the post cross age you are included in the fellowship that is God. A healed self; a self that is maturing in wholeness and holiness; a self that is growing from glory to glory in Christ is a self and a church that is becoming who they are in the Christ they are already in.
NO STEPS TO CHRIST
You have been received into Christ. This is the atonement resulting from the cross. There are no steps to Christ. Christ has taken every step to make you part of his life. You have been drawn into His life and His life in the fellowship of the trinity already.
CUL DE SAC
You are not separated from Christ unless you have been taught a false reality. Growing in Christ is moving continuously more deeply into the reality that you ARE ALREADY RECEIVED INTO HIS LIFE. That one must take steps to Christ implies, that coming to Christ is our work and a foundational work But this is a false reality and a false christ.
‘And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit’ 2 Cor 3.18 NIV.
It is of crucial importance to know God and Jesus Christ trough the Jesus lens. This is the Christ unclouded by veils of misconception and false teaching. You can know God through God and Jesus Christ rather than attempt to know God through the red-herring of the law, distorted gospels or the mist of religion. You have direct and unhindered access to God in Jesus by the Spirit. God is with you and in you – never somewhere else and never outside our sin and short-comings.
The teaching that we know God and come to God view the requirements of the law is a distraction and lie of the Enemy.
KNOWING CHRIST, KNOWING GOD
The atonement wrought by the cross and the subsequent incarnation of Christ in us and the church is the stuff of the Kingdom of God. This is the multiplication of the God in humanity and the engine of the new creation. Torrance writes,
“It is not too much to say that this relation of the Son to the Father revealed in Jesus Christ provided Nicene theology with its central focus and basis, for the incarnation of the Son opened the way to knowing God in himself, as nothing else could have done. In Jesus Christ the Son of God took our human nature upon himself and made it his own so completely that he came among us as man; and by what he was as man, he revealed to us what he was and is as God.
That is to say, without giving up his divine nature, he united himself to us in our human nature so completely, that by living out his divine life within our human life as a real human life he revealed something of the innermost secret of his own divine life as Son of the Father.
But precisely in revealing to us his own nature as the Son, he revealed the nature of the Father, not just by word, teaching us what God is like, but by being what he was and is, the very Son of the Father incarnate in our human life.
It was the overwhelming conviction of the Nicene Church that it is only with the incarnation of the Son that true knowledge of God has been brought within the range of our human understanding.” (1)
GOD IS IN YOU – NOT SEPARATE FROM YOU
There is no life in the Spirit without the incarnation and only a sputtering of the Spirit and the gifts in old covenant separation from God under the law of sin and death. ‘Renewal by the Holy Spirit’ is code for Christ becoming us. We are renewed because we are joined to God and one with God.
‘He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit’ Titus 3,5 NIV.
The Gospel is not that we can receive Jesus into our lives. The Gospel is that we have been received into His life.
