When you meet people after many years its good to catch up and see where they are with God. Much of western religion is an intellectual framework – a culture of the head. You can sense this when you tell them you have been to India and participated with others in healing the deaf and the lame in the power of Jesus. They go quiet. Don’t know how to cope with it. Some seek to escape. They are comfortable with their libraries, their theology and institutions of formality and structured life. The Kingdom for them, if you can call it that, is maintaining religion and helping to perpetuate the institution of church.
There’s a difference between the genuine Kingdom of God and the kingdom of religion. In the former Christ has come in our flesh. We are not fleshly. We are spirit and life. We are imbued with His person and the fellowship of the trinity. Jesus continues what He began and multiplies Himself in you. This includes healing the sick, raising the dead and casting out demons.
‘As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give’ Matt 10.7,8 NIV.
The Kingdom of Religion and its well intended Bible studies portray a faint jesus and a partial gospel – a form of godliness without power, Paul called it. Don’t be side-tracked because some of the healings have been bogus and the prophecies hot air. More have been paralysed by lame sermons, poor doctrine and separationism taught as religion than any of these. There’s a reason why many Pentecostal churches are more vibrant than some. The life of Holy Spirit is the life of God. On the other hand there are entire denominations of the lame and impotent living as phantoms of their genuine selves
But wait. There’s more. It’s not just about healing for today and the revelation that God is real for tomorrow. It’s about you being included in Christ and in His Family in the fellowship of Holy Spirit and Father. You belong. You are in there with them and they are in you – when you release them to be themselves by agreeing that they are there, you become the son/daughter of God you really are!
‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.20 NIV.
The basis of the Kingdom of God is that Christ is the image of our Father and that He is our life; that we are already included in His Family and that we as individuals and the church, are the expression of His person and the sons and daughters of the trinity. Francis Du Toit quotes his friend on his Facebook page. ‘We are pioneers in the earth today, preaching a message so foreign to the settled mediocrity of this present churchianity... It unsettles the idols of intellectualism, standing bare and brazen in stark contrast to the norm. The passion of a righteous Father pursues His own - unafraid and unashamed! We are infants growing in the ultimate revelation of all the ages. Separatism is dead! Perfect Union in the One Man is the deepest and final greatest awakening! He is making this personal! It is an unending wave of Glory!’
Christ in you is the hope of glory. Christ as you is the glory of the church and the arrival of the new creation. You are a son/daughter and the living expression of His glory.
