Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

LIVING EXPRESSION

If we are living in anything less than Christ we have not been born again. Genuine new birth is our death in Adam and our resurrection in Jesus. New birth is not the adoption of a new and pure morality where once we lived in perfidy and shame. It’s a transition. It’s a leap from our life to Christ’s life, from Adam’s life to life in the Son. This is a transition from death to life. Most of all this new life called the NEW AND LIVING WAY is the undoing of separation. God said there is no life in separation. There is life in UNION. He sent us union in His Son.

In Jesus we we have passed from death to life. In the law and old Adam we have not. In Jesus we have passed from the separation of Adam’s life to the life in Jesus we and our Father are one.

In the law and old covenant no one is joined to God – not even the prophets. Sure they felt His Spirit and heard His voice. But none were one with God. None were indwelt by Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All lived in the separation that awaited the coming of the Christ and His Outflowing at Pentecost. Today we are one with God by the One Spirit who is the spirit of sonship.

‘But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him’
1 Cor 6.17 NIV. One spirit is what Paul means by Christ our life. It is what we are in Jesus when we and our Father are one.

Israel of old lived in the guidance and provision of God. But not in union. Even David who was a forerunner of the Christ and who celebrated life as a companion of God did not live in the union of intimacy that belongs to all today. Nevertheless, David, who had a heart after God made a shadow of the real with the tent in which they danced and sang before the Lord. This was not the reality. This reality was yet to come firstly with the Son of God incarnated as Jesus of Nazareth and secondly following Pentecost when the victorious Jesus entered all who believe in by the presence of Holy Spirit.

‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.23 NIV.

Richard Rohr writes, ‘We not only have to be born, but remade. The remaking of the soul and the refreshing of the eye is the return to simplicity. It has to be done again and again, and somehow it feels like starting over each time. No wonder we speak of "beginner's mind" … This often entails a certain inner disillusionment, which it is usually forced on us by sin, failure, betrayal, and loss.’ Yet these mini-deaths produce new life and infinite growth. They also fit us to see with the eyes of Christ.

‘Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again’ John 3.3 NIV. In old covenant mode we can see religion but we only experience the Kingdom in a fog. When we and Father are one we have unimpeded wisdom and revelation. If we and the law are one we have obstructed our connection with God. We can share things of religious interest. But we will not speak with authority or be filled with spirit and life. Spirit and life is a river of life that flows when we are sons in spirit and in truth.

There is a simplicity that negates religion and undoes all that most of us have been taught. The simple fact is that Christ is our life and nothing else is. Until we embrace this truth we cannot see truth clearly or live in fullness of life. We will stumble on in a blur fiddling at the edges and trying to achieve through things like more Bible study, active outreach or by the Holy Spirit. But adding Holy Spirit to a separated life can only take us so far and quickly fades. By returning to the cross we ensure that we are truly dead and on the path to being truly alive. Truly dead to our cherished assumptions and resurrected in His the new and living way of Christ as us.

Below are diagrams explaining the basis of the Kingdom Jesus established by drawing us into the fellowship with the trinity.
