Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

GOD IS LOVE

‘She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins’ Matt 1.21 NIV.

Sin is real. It is a perversion of life. It results from separation from God. It increases a sense of separation from God through guilt. Sin breeds unrighteousness, self-righteousness and a spirit of condemnation.

Sin is not original. There is no such thing as original sin. The womb of our being is the trinity. We were birthed from The Presence in innocence and purity. One with God we were made in the image of God and inbreathed with His presence .

‘If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness’ 1 John 1.9 NIV.

Righteousness and life are original. Belonging is original. Wholeness and oneness of spirit. Soul and body is original. It is what we are as sons and daughters of God.

LIE VERSUS LIFE

Sin results from Adam’s believing a lie; from accepting the lie that Father was withholding something. That we could get this something – this extra divinity -  through the route of becoming Exponents of the knowledge of good and evil. But the ruse brought separation. The life was replaced with the lie and the separation resulted in woe. It multiplied deformity and degradation. Sin is the perversion of the good, lies are a distortion of the truth, the knowledge of good and evil is a counterfeit of life. A charade of life because it is actually death.

The fall separates us from God and plunges us into self-made ethics, into social turmoil and the defining of evil as good and good as evil. Morality separated from God is perverse. Christian morality separated from Christ our life is a delusion. Religion and institutionalism promotes a kingdom of performance, exclusion and lifelessness. But Christ as our life promotes life itself, fills humans with God’s spirit and life and brings transformation of body, soul and spirit.

RANTING FOR GOD

Jesus did not engage in moral rants. The beatitudes do not form a sermon on what one must do to be holy and accepted by God. Jesus is the fulfilment and expression of each beatitude in Himself. His qualities become us when Jesus is our life.

‘The other guests began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?’ Luke 7.49 NIV.

Sin is real. But life and love is more real. Life is more real than separation and death. Jesus is this life. You are alive in God in Jesus. You are the righteousness of God in Christ. The liar and the thief comes to relieve us of life and to multiply death. Jesus is our life. He is here to give us this life that is never limited and bubbles up from an infinite spring that is the trinity of God.

‘If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness’ 1 John 1.9 NIV.

Love is not love. God is love. Jesus is the revelation and manifestation of this love. We  know love when we are in God and we see love when we see Jesus Christ. Love draws us into our real identity – not a false one or an identity constructed from the knowledge of good and evil.

LOVE IS NOT LOVE

Our real identity is known in encounter and relationship with The Other. This Other is God and in Him we live, move and have our genuine being. We are sons and daughters in genuine identity in communion with Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

SIMILARITY IN DIFFERENCE

The novel  The Shack is a parable that illustrates the similarity and difference of the trinity. They are different but they are one. Each member of the trinity is different. Each member of the trinity lives to assist the other to be themselves. Genuine identity and Godliness is found in similarity and difference. This is seen in the man and woman, in marriage and in the family. This is love. Love is who the trinity are, who God is and who we are as sons and daughters in communion with our Father. Love is not love. God and Godliness is love. The Trinitarian reality is love and its image in marriage and the family is love.

GRACE AND TRUTH

Jesus forgives sins, sets us free from guilt and shame and continues to forgive our imperfect lives, gracing us continually with His presence. But Jesus does not live from sin consciousness and the efforts of heaven have not been about
not sinning. Life is not to be defined in negativity. Life is life. Life is Jesus and our Father and the Spirit. They are life in themselves and have made a way for us to share this life and live forever in a medium of ever increasing life and joy. Christ draws us to Himself because He loves to make us whole.

Condemning people is not loving them. But neither is turning a blind eye to evils that result from separation from God. To do so is not to love people or to love God. God through His Son and the cross has ensured that all belong to God – including rebels and non-believers. Our task as disciples is to PRESENT JESUS AS LIFE and to join with Him in attempting to draw people into the belonging that is already theirs. There is no  real life, no real love apart from Him. Either in this life or in the next.
