CHRIST YOUR LIFE

His life as your life

KNOWING GOD. KNOWING KNOWING

Our Father and the Son know each other as they are. Jesus revealed Himself as the Messiah and His Father as He is. ‘If you have seen me you have seen the Father.’ Jesus did not come to reveal any one’s theology other than God’s own.

As such He is the lens through which sound doctrine is known as sound doctrine and the lens through which our Father, son and Holy Spirit are revealed in His life and teaching. He is the one who reveals us as we are in sonship and He is the custodian of the Way that is alive, legitimate and orthodox – known also as the Gospel of the Kingdom and The Apostle’s Doctrine.

The new and living way is not something we make up ourselves. Nor is it any addition to the gospel of Jesus and the apostles. Truth is always Jesus and His gospel revealed and enlarged – never teaching that shades Him or that undoes the cross.

“God is known by God and by God alone” is the essence of Barth’s theological epistemology.” The statement does guide us into some of the far-reaching implications of the theology of Karl Barth … The knowledge of God is, first of all, God’s own knowledge. God possesses it. It cannot be the rightful possession of anyone else. If God is to be treated as God, it must be on his initiative if we are to truly know him.” (1)

The initiative was that God was revealed in His Son Jesus and the initiative today is that God and His Gospel of liberty and life is continuously protected, revealed and declared through His Son and those who speak on His behalf.

CHRIST OUR ONE IDENTITY

This alerts us to the fact that there are no proprietary gospels and no valid gospels that fall into Paul’s warning against ‘other gospels.’ It should alert us to the fact that we belong full to the Body of Christ when we have embraced His gospel and have absorbed the knowledge of God that is ‘known by God alone’ and shared by ministers of the new covenant. These ministers are competent to render the truth as the truth in spirit and in truth. The fruit of truth always arises from union with God and manifests among us as spirit and life.

‘He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life’ 2 Cor 3.6 NIV. The new covenant is equated with life and the old covenant with death.

We can discard the above as irrelevant if we chose, but if we do we will have to accept the fact that most of what we say is It will not be living water even when it comes as a Bible study and a series of scriptures. Spirit and life is a flow that is ours when we are in union with God. Jesus’ picture of the field of tares alerts us to the danger of being sons of delusion when we had thought we were sons of God.

YOU CAN KNOW THE TRUTH

We do have access to who God is and what God knows. Christ lives in us. He lives in us fully as new covenant Believers due to the incarnation. He is insulated from us by ourselves should we cling to the old covenant and the law and refuse to enter in to the union with God that is our post cross inheritance. C S Lewis pictures dwarves in a shed who had access to a banquet that they refused because they defined the food as a delusion. But they remained as dwarves because they were imprisoned in their own delusion.

The anointing and the gifts will not supply that which we do not have by remaining in the law and in separation from God. Yet we have union with God and we have it by believing that we do. Jesus said,

‘All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him’ Matt 11.27 NIV. In the post cross age we are one with Jesus, one with our Father and one with their knowledge about themselves and about us. When we believe.
