Paul names Jesus Christ as our life because He is – in all respects. The son of God was always the logos - the divine rationality and purpose of all there is. When we use Paul’s words ‘Christ our life’ we are elaborating on the words ‘Christ is all and in all’.
Paul expands on this when he declares, ‘For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him’ Col 1.16,17 NIV. This ‘HIM’ lives in you.
Jesus Christ is the mediator not of the law but of our relationship to God and His relationship to us – the relationship that holds reality in proper order and which Paul names as the law of the spirit of life, that is another name for the trinity as the life and order source of the cosmos.
MALICE POSING AS COMMON SENSE
I wonder of Christians who damn Greta Thunberg have realised that they are anti-life and as a result, anti-Christ. The attitude of some to this prophetic message is evil. It is a subtle wickedness. It originates in the pit as does every element of anti-life malice.
SOURCE OF LOVE AND LIFE
The incarnation – the indwelling of the fullness of God in us - joins us to the realm of love, life, joy and harmony that is the nature and reality of the trinity and of life. Refuges of lies that are selfish and life-denying come from the pit. Doctrines that try to make Jesus the Supervisor and upholder of some external law that focuses on sexuality and seen as not applicable to what we are doing to the planet is hypocrisy and a grave wickedness. Have nothing to do with them.
God has given us Himself in the person of Jesus to live in us and be our life. Separation from God is the death of us and the killing of the world. There’s more than one way to crucify Jesus and we are seeing it today.
Jesus declared Himself come to deliver life without limit. Not partisan morality without limit. There’s no left and right in the Kingdom of God: Just unlimited life. Alive in Christ we are saviours of the earth. Jesus died for you and the earth. ‘For God so loved THE WORLD that He gave His only Son.’
“Jesus Christ acts in grace as both God and man. If He does not, then we are not saved by Him. Through the union of God and man in Jesus Christ, Jesus fulfils the covenant in Himself. On the side of man, He takes up our cause as a human being and He does what we cannot do in our place. He is faithful where we are unfaithful. He is obedient where we have been disobedient. In fact, He is perfect in every way that we have failed in relation to God. At the same time He upholds the side of God, as the righteous Lord of the universe. Thus, the new covenant is Jesus Christ.” (1)
To be a disciples of Jesus takes more than waving one’s arms in praise and worship services. Or bleating about sexual morality. Worship is a life. Jesus is not among us and in us to sanctify religion or churchianity. He is in us to impart Himself as our life so that we can bring life to the earth. Jesus has given us life without limit in Himself to impart to the world. This is the new creation Kingdom of God. But many are like a person who buys a carton of milk from the store. They attempt to drink the carton instead of the milk.
Proverbs laments the day when a fool becomes king. There's a worse day than this when the people become fools. There’s a parody of Christianity that elects people like Donald Trump. Either we are the manifestation of Christ and His love of the earth or we are having ourselves on. Godliness is not being seen in church. Godliness is the Christ manifesting as us. ‘For God so loved the world’.
