CHRIST YOUR LIFE

His life as your life

WRONG FICUS

A focus on the gifts, altered states of consciousness, ‘charismatic glory’ and the supernatural - independently of the new covenant and the incarnation of God in us - is not the gospel of the Kingdom and is a distraction.

Our union with God, which is our already achieved position, is the core of the Kingdom Jesus began. The gifts, the signs and the healings are necessary but they are not the reason for our life in God. Christ our life is our life in God. The fruits and gifts are the effect of this God-Accomplishment.

YOUR GLORY

‘When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory’ Col 3.4 NIV. The glory of you is the becoming and growth of your real self that results from Christ as you.

Every person is a son/daughter of God. Even non-believers. The growing of our glory as sons/daughters starts when we agree that the Christ of God is our life.

THE CHRIST OF GOD IS GOD

‘Christ’ is not Jesus’ sir name. It refers to the son of God who has lived in fellowship and equality with Father from eternity. When we agree that Christ is our life this eternity and infinity in person enters our being and we become sons in spirit and in truth. In Adam we are notional sons. In Christ we are the sons of God in spirit and in truth. In Christ we did not come out of the dirt and we are not returning to it. We came from God, are living in God and are heading into God.

When Jesus spoke words of spirit and life He was ministering a stream of infinite life that flowed from the trinity, through Him and into the Believer. It’s safe to say that all who received Him would have never before experienced such life-giving refreshment. But you can minister this spirit and life today by being yourself in Jesus.

These remarks in quotes below by Robert F Capon come from the introduction to Stephen Morrison’s book, ‘We belong.’ Last night I was listening to a talk in which the speaker extolled the passionate commitment of a certain religious leaders. I was not convinced by all I heard.

We are not in the fullness of God simply because we are sincere – even in grace. Grace is the door to the infinite life of God for us. I would have been convinced that commitment was spirituality if I had not seen that externalities are not spirit and life of the kind that Jesus ministered. I have, during my life as a Believer, witnessed very committed teachers teaching dry bones – not because the talk had not been properly prepared – but because it was a desert of spirit and life. Generally speaking, we cannot emit rivers of spirit and life from old covenant separation.

INCARNATION

The Kingdom that Jesus began is neither commitment or information. It is incarnation.

It’s what enlightened teachers today have been calling the ‘trinity in you.’ I use the word ‘enlightened’ advisedly to mean ‘walking in the light’ rather than bending Christ’s light into our particular form of confusion or darkness.

INTERWOVEN

The replication of heaven on earth comes not from ideology or moralism. It emerges as we adopt that which is already ours – the interwoveness of the trinity into our humanity. Christ our life means
us woven into God and God woven into us. The is the ultimate grace and the one path to transformation of ourselves and society. Robert Capon writes.

The most critical issue facing Christians is not abortion, pornography, the disintegration of the family, moral absolutes, MTV, drugs, racism, sexuality, or school prayer. The critical issue today is dullness. We have lost our astonishment. The good news is no longer good news, it is okay news. Christianity is no longer life-changing, it is life-enhancing. Jesus doesn’t change people into wild-eyed radicals anymore, He changes them into ‘nice people’.”  (1)

CONFUSION BE GONE

The ability to be taught is necessary to grow in grace and truth. I am not a mechanic because I own a stilson wrench and you are not a theologian because you have a Bible irrespective of your hearing from God. Humility brings clarity of insight, wisdom and spiritual discernment.

LENS AND LIGHT

What does Jesus do? He teaches us how to see and is actually our ‘seeing.’ He enables us ‘to be’. The mystery is that with Him as our life we become our real selves and begin to live according to our design and destiny. By His Spirit He lives in us so that the qualities of our Father are imparted to us by Holy Spirit.

We have been baptised in Jesus, meaning that in Christ our Adam has died and our resurrected Jesus has become our life. We are baptised into His life which means being baptised into the communion of the Holy Family.

‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.’ John 14.23 NIV.

There is something very simple and most profound about His teaching. It is that He Himself is our life.
