Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

The first prayer I knew began with 'Gentle Jesus, meek and mild..' Jesus was full of love, grace and truth. Yet His resolve to confront the world system (the culture of Adam) was indomitable. He was grace and truth and never resiled from speaking and living the truth. He did not model timidity or mock modesty. He did not compromise. He was not double-minded. He did not pander to Judaism and seek to accommodate this to the Kingdom of God. He never attempted to advance His Kingdom by political stances and strategies. He was the Son of God, living in His Father and drawing people to His Father. Unencumbered by the knowledge of good and evil, Jesus was who He was. He was not a push-over, yet in laying down His life He pushed over the system of Adam and inaugurated the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus is the door through whom the Kingdom of Heaven entered earth. His witness, cross and return to earth in the Spirit at Pentecost enables us to live. To live not from ourselves, by self-knowledge or religious rite - but in God. God would be in us. Christ would be our life. He had come in our flesh. We had been made part of the being of God.

‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14,20. If you have not realised this yet, then now is a good time.

The atmosphere of heaven is life. Life in heaven is not appreciated because it can be compared with death. Heavenly joy is not exulted in because it is compared to sorrow. Love, joy, liberty and such are things in themselves. As God is I AM so are these things. They are alive! They are characteristics of God, the angels and His house. This is the meaning of 'life to the full.' Jesus had the Spirit without limit and came to give us life without measure. You are not in the realm of the flesh [Adam] but are in the realm of the Spirit [heaven] because the Spirit of God lives in you.

'The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full' John 10.10 NIV.

Jesus declared himself the way, the truth and the life. Paul explained that Jesus is our life and that this Jesus, this life, lives in us.

'And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son' 1 John 5.11 NIV.

Heaven's accomplishment for us - the new covenant - is as simple as it is profound. None need be a rocket scientist to understand it. But we do need to have trust to accept it. It's provisions are not received by understanding every element. We receive by believing. In its most compact terms, the new covenant can be stated in the words, 'Christ is your life.' This is realised as our life in the Spirit and is explained in Romans 8.

The new covenant does not appear as a list anywhere in the new testament. This is because it is not a list as was the Ten Commandments. It is a life. It is Jesus. The new covenant is a life itself. His life in you. His life becoming your life. His life for you and your life in Him for the unbelieving world. This is quite different to the old covenant based on the command to obey and live. The new covenant can be expressed as 'Live and obey.' Why? Life is already yours in Christ. His obedience in you becomes your obedience towards God. Today because Jesus is your life you too speak living words of spirit and life.

'The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you' Rom 8.11 NLT.

This is so simple that some draw back in fear. What if I lose all? Don't I need to save what I have? What if this is too simple? What if I really can get godly by doing good and avoiding evil? What if I just try harder? What if I take up my cross, suffer the negation of all my self-effort, lay down the accumulation of self-respect through paying Jesus back for what He did; what if I abandon the slow assembling of my spiritual house like a bower bird? What if..? We are back again in the garden of Eden. Do you want to live as a worker and a slave? How many many more false leads and dead ends do you really need? Has your life in Adam really worked for you? Will you put your trust in what Father has done or will you go with the father of lies?

'For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it' Matt 16.25 NIV.
