It is a fact that we belong, that God in Christ has made the two one – that the at-one-ment includes us all. But whether this belonging is ours depends on our reaching out to seize it. The heir apparent is not the heir in fact until he has assumed the throne. Throughout the ages villains, Grand Viziers and those of ill will have connived to prevent people receiving their inheritance. This is how the Enemy precipitated the fall. It is how he prevents the resurrection too.
‘But what does Scripture say? "Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman's son’ Gal 4.30 NIV. In Galatians Paul tells us as that the sons of the slave woman miss out on what is theirs and the sons of the free woman flourish in their belonging. The former are contained in the law. The later set free to be alive in Christ. The sons of God are wheat flourishing in the truth of their belonging. The sons of the evil one have been misled by a lie. Tares belong. But they are not possessing and flourishing in their belonging. They are not who they really are and are a charade of their real selves. But the Wheat are sons in spirit and in truth.
‘The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one’ Matt 13.38 NIV. Tares are not people who have been rejected by God. They are people who do not represent the Kingdom because they are not living in their new covenant inheritance.
Why live in the Body of death when you are actually in the Body of Christ?
“As Lay Cistercian and teacher Carl McColman puts it: God is in us, because we are in Christ. As members of the mystical body, Christians actually partake in the divine nature of the Trinity. We do not merely watch the dance, we dance the dance. We join hands with Christ and the Spirit flows through us and between us and our feet move always in the loving embrace of the Father. In that we are members of the mystical body of Christ, we see the joyful love of the Father through the eyes of the Son. And with every breath, we breathe the Holy Spirit.”
