Christ Your life

His Kingdom multiplied through you

Those who have the son have life. Those who do not have the son do not have life. This is a fact. Having the Son is not a quality of a spiritual elite. This is the possession and inheritance of all who receive the Christ of God and obey His teaching. What is His teaching ? Is it a bunch of values and new testament precepts? No. His teaching is that He is our life - all of it.

Nevertheless we need to possess Christ’s gospel and not another - not a distortion of it as Paul warned and the final verses of Revelation imply. Doctrinally, the fact of Christ our life has been called the vicarious humanity of Christ. In the practical business of everyday living this is life in the Spirit. Such a life is spiritual and completely practical. It is Christ come in our flesh. This is your possession and the inheritance of the church. Christ manifesting as us is so core, so basic, so essentially Kingdom that the anti-christ spirit has made every effort to undermine and distort it. By distorting or smothering this reality with religion, the Enemy purveys a culture where we do not have the son and we do not have life. Thus he can vitiate the Kingdom from the inside.

One of these strategies is institutionalism. Rather than Christ manifest as His people we get an institution posing as His Church. Instead of Jesus as mediator of the life and Kingdom of God, we get institutions claiming to be a ‘Stairway to heaven’. This is what has been called the ‘Christian Industry’ - industry because is is based on works, products and creating consumers of product.

‘For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist’ 2 John 1.7 ESV.

The other strategy is inertia towards the new covenant and ignorance of its foundational nature for Kingdom life. This results in blatant legalism and law-mongering. The result is that Christ come in our flesh is denied - and the Kingdom becomes a husk rather than a reality. In the Spirit, Jesus manifests as you and as a result as the church. On Christ’s church we and all Believers are the manifestation of Jesus. This is the real body as distinct from the notional body of Christ.

Old covenant religion is the subtle legalism of living in the knowledge of good and evil rather than the new provision of Christ our life. Purity and integrity are the fruits of Christ our life. Never the essence of it. Moralism is ‘another gospel’ and a ‘gospel’ that replaces Christ come in our flesh with with ‘the flesh come come in our flesh. Let’s be clear. We can engage in a moral crusade and be among those who do not have the son and do not have life. There is a reason why two thirds of the gospels consist of the Pharisees war against Jesus. Religion is the air we breathe when in opposition to Christ. But Jesus lives in you and manifests His life through you and the church.

‘I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them’ John 17.26 NIV.

Christian books are beneficial. Apostolic writers and teachers can reveal the glory of Christ and who we are as sons in Him. But His life is not in the books or the statement of these truths. The life that ignites our spirit and heals our soul is in Christ who is in you. We could spend two weeks in the desert without a Bible and without our favourite authors without ill effect. The presence of the trinity around you and in you would be more than enough. You are made alive in God. You are revealed as who you are hidden in Christ.

Jesus said, ‘Those who eat me will live because of me.’ He illustrated this truth with the Lord’s Table. We eat food and it becomes our flesh and blood. We eat Jesus and He becomes our spirit , soul and body. This is why it is not an exaggeration to say that Christ becomes you. It’s the mystery of the Spirit and the reality in your flesh. If you eat a pizza that pizza will become your body soul and spirit. Eating Jesus is the same. There is more about The Lord’s Table than thanking Him for his cross! The new covenant in His blood is Jesus as our life. This is the new covenant in spirit and in truth and the difference between the genuine body of Christ and our living as a body of death.

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord!’ Rom 7.24,25.

Christ is our life full stop. He never ceases to be our life. He is our life when we are in the bath-tub as much as when we are involved in praise and worship. Genuine praise and worship is you being yourself as an expression of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is life to the full. Jesus was the presence of God revealed among people. This was His life among us. Jesus of Nazareth was God come in the flesh of Joseph and Mary’s Son: The  incarnation. Today Jesus is God come in you and those who receive Him. Here we are His Body, His hands and feet and His spirit and life.

By living among us Jesus sanctified our everyday activities and our life journey. He anointed our life. By living in us He imparts to us His life and makes us agents of His life. Thus we are the new creation.

‘Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation’  Gal 6.15 NIV. Rites and observances are meaningless in the new testament age. What counts is the multiplication of Jesus in you and in us all.

Today and everyday Jesus anoints your life with Himself. By the Spirit He manifests as you. We are not a deity. But we are sons and daughters - the expression of Jesus and the habitation of the trinity. With Christ as our life we the presence of God manifest as daughters and sons. We are sons revealed to each other and the non-believing world. The fullness of the Godhead bodily was in Jesus. Today this fullness is in you. He and she who has the son has this life. How do you get the Son? Just say this: ‘Jesus, come and be my life.’ And He will.

‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.23 NIV
