CHRIST YOUR LIFE

His life as your life

KINGDOM REALIZED

It is a great advantage to walk in the ‘light of life.’

‘When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." We are competent to minister the Kingdom in our new covenant mindset because we are light-bearers in the same manner that Jesus was the light of the world.

Jesus’ baptism is an improvement on John the Baptist’s baptism. The latter was old covenant, notional rather than transformative and in separation instead of union. Baptism into Jesus is baptism into union with God and fellowship with the trinity.

SONS OF GOD

Our post cross union with God is ‘belonging’ realised and the spirit of sonship active. It is also the steady growth of our real selves and the shedding of our false Adamic self so that we become sons in spirit and in truth rather than notional sons and daughters.

We can participate in the Lord’s Table yet live separated from God. Then again we can live in God and signify that the Lord’s Table alive in us. We can celebrate that the real being of Christ as our life – that we live, not from statements and formulations, but from a real Jesus manifesting as us. Thomas Torrance writes,

While the deposit of faith was replete with the truth as it is in Jesus, embodying kerygmatic, didactic and theological content, by its very nature it could not be resolved into a system of truths or set of normative doctrines and formulated beliefs, for the truths and doctrines and beliefs entailed could not be abstracted from the embodied form which they were given in Christ in the apostolic foundation of the church without loss of their real substance.”

The mystery of iniquity is the law (the knowledge of good and evil) claiming to be godliness. The mystery of Godliness is Christ manifest as you and as us all.

BAPTISM

Jesus’ baptism is both the baptism of assurance and baptism into the presence and life of the trinity. Here we share the spirit and life that is them and theirs. Believe Jesus and the trinity will come and make their home in you. For those who live in the truth and embrace the Light, God is never somewhere else or in some day rather than another day. He is in you. In Jesus you are in God and in His fellowship.

Grace is not the means of coping with the law. Grace is Jesus. This grace is the means of making us alive. It is His life as your life.

REALIZE – RECEIVE REVELATION

You are incarnated with God.
Realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV.

Your inheritance is that you are part of God. Yet you are fully yourself, positioned to thrive in the Spirit of Sonship and the anointing of Holy Spirit.

Upon the homecoming of the incarnate Son, with the human race gathered in his arms, the Spirit of adoption was unleashed upon the world with the singular mission of leading us to know the truth. The Spirit was sent to testify of Christ, to bear witness with our spirits that we are children of God in Jesus, and in bearing witness, to call us to believe the truth so that we can experience its liberation. The Spirit testifies of Jesus Christ as the Father's beloved Son, who sits at His right hand, and to Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of the human race, who has searched the universe for us, found us and taken us home. As he leads us to know the truth, not just in our heads as a bit of theological trivia, but in our souls as the surest thing in all the world, he brings us into the baptism of assurance.” (1)

RIVERS OF LIVING WATER

To imagine we are in the spirit when we are in the letter is a tragedy. We can live in the old covenant among droplets of grace. But our difficulty here is that we are blind but think we can see. To ‘see’ one must be born out of religion and law into union with God. With Christ as our life we are the church of the First-Born. When the law is our life we remain blind and comatose in dead Adam. If separation from God is the ‘great darkness’ union with God in Christ is the infinite light.

You have an inheritance, a life in which Christ is your life and belonging with the trinity is yours. Or not.

‘I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.  “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly’ Gal 2.20-21 NASB.

One who lives in God is a different person, a different being, to one who lives in Christianity. One is a living word - a personification of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The other is a figment of the letter. As a manifestation of the Spirit of Jesus it will be true of you that in you is life and that His life is your life and the life with which you touch others. This light will be the light of men and you will no longer walk in darkness.
