Jesus never came to re-hash the law, or any part of it. He came to replicate Himself in you by the Spirit. You are called to be the expression of Jesus personally – not to be a ‘letter’ abstraction or a more excellent ‘law exponent.’ Ours is a superior inheritance. We are in-dwelt by the fullness of God.
The trinity lives in us. We have the advantage of their individuality ministering into our lives and we have the relationship with God that they have with each other. The manifestation of the fullness of God in the earth is us! Jesus as the promoter of the law is a Redding herring that robs His achievement of content. His gospel of the Kingdom which is way better than the mangled, law infused mumbo-jumbo that can be passed off as of God in some parts of the church.
FATHER MANIFESTING AS SONS
Stephen Crosby observes that “The glory of Christ shared with believers is the inhabitation, inworking and outworking of the Spirit of sonship. In Christ, at last, God found a Man in whom His glory could dwell bodily, no longer limited to a gold plated box in a tent, and the staggering wonder of the new covenant is that He shares that glory with those who are His!” (1)
Today the temple of God is you and the manifest presence of God is you and us all. This is apostolic teaching and the correct description of Kingdom life. Don’t allow yourself to be dumbed-down and robbed of your role as a king-priest by misguided teaching and re-inventions of pre-cross living.
ALL THINGS IN CHRIST
Masses of believers are still living in the knowledge of good and evil. Adam has been undone and you are a new creation in Jesus Christ. There are no compartments in the new creation. Not that there ever were. But the segmentation inherent in the knowledge of good and evil has created the illusion of sacred and secular. God’s time and my time. God’s money and my money and God’s spaces and man’s spaces. One of the superior insights that some religions have over Christianity is that that everything is sacred. What does ‘In Him we live and move and have our being mean if not that we are alive and active in the cosmos that is the expression of the being of God? Jesus has made us part of this as the son of man who is the son of God. By ending our alienation and drawing us into the fellowship of the trinity and the logos, God has established us in His reality according to our status and purpose as sons and daughters of God.
‘God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfil his own good pleasure. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth’ Eph 1.9,10 NLT.
WHAT MAKES A PERSON?
The glory of a dog is to be itself. The same is so with a duck. The glory of you is to be who you really are. You will be this person in Jesus by the Spirit. Never by the law. You may have noticed that guys and gals will search for a partner with a constellation of qualities appealing to them. This is ok as for as it goes, but the nature of persons is not to be a bunch of characteristics. It is to be a being in which the whole is more than the sum of the parts. In other words a son of God. It’s true that we can live in our own beliefs if we desire. But if living in a perspective that cripples your being in any way is ok with you it’s not ok with God. It is disrespectful to His cross. Jesus lives to make you whole – not to leave you in a perspective that leaves you crippled in your being.
The old covenant and Adam’s realm is the age of separation, of fragmented parts in Satan’s lie of pseudo - wholeness. The new covenant is life in the truth of wholeness of being in the person of Christ in which the fractured nature of a believers life is made one. A legalist can never be whole any more than a lizard will become Aunt Mabel. Why? The law separates you from God.
DAWN OF REALISATION
God does not live from an anti-sin obsession. Christs passion is not morality. He lives to draw you into His belonging. In Him you become changed into His likeness. Individual Believers and sections of the church are beginning to realise that our post cross life consists not so much in a diligent morality or in gifts of the Spirit and miracles of power - but in the fact that God lives in us and we live in God. This realisation is coming true: ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. Union with God drives out every kind of degradation and death. This union is the possession of the sinner and every believer. It is the privilege of both to live in what is already ours.
As this realization takes hold, rebels are set free from habits that degrade and the religious become released from a craven addiction to religion and a sycophantic reliance on celebrity preachers. All find themselves propelled into the reality of the Spirit of Sonship along with the holiness, fruitfulness and authority that goes with it.
Crosby observes that “Westerners tend to separate their lives into categories. There is the business and work realm. There is the realm of politics. There is a realm of self-awareness. There is a realm of spirituality and theology. There is the realm of family. There is a realm of economy and finance. All of these are compartmentalized in Western understanding. We understand this to be the normal, orderly and proper way the world operates. It is our worldview.” (2)
I have often heard believers argue, “Different issue” as a result of this compartmentalisation mindset. But the issue is not that it is a different issue. The issue is that we are either in God and one with Him or we are not. Our life in Christ is never a blur. Neither is it an exhibition of selected pieties. In Christ we are part of the whole and in Him our part and our projects take on the spirit and life that originates in the trinity and flows through the creation in those who are the sons and daughters of God. Your mission as a daughter or a son is to be agents of Christ in bringing everything together in heaven and in earth. It will never happen as a function of law or as an effect of its offspring, religion. It occurs naturally and powerfully because we are one with God. We advance this kingdom by living in this realisation: The realisation that we and our Father are one.
‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20
