His life as your life

‘I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!’ Gal 2.21.

‘For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ’ John 1.17.

‘The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.’

If we have attempted to see Jesus through the law we have never seen Him as He is let alone seen His glory or imagined our own.

We have posted on the nature of truth before. Evidence based truth is agreement with the facts – which is to say congruence with what is. Improvements in medical health and the ability to insulate ourselves to a degree from nature have been arisen from evidence based knowledge. Truth is just as God is I AM. You are fully human and fully alive to the extent that you live in God’s Truth: Jesus.

Truth in a spiritual sense is on a higher level than correct information. Truth in God is spirit and truth. Truth that is lived out in God has the advantage of wisdom and insight, un-obscured by the dichotomies of the knowledge of good and evil. This is the law is not the truth of God and Christ our life is the truth manifest in you. Here truth is not only agreement with the mind of Christ. It is truth lived out and comprehended in union with God instead of in separation from God. This kind of truth envelops us in wisdom and revelation and spiritual discernment.

Confusion and dullness in perceiving truth comes from living in religion rather than living in Jesus – or living from a false christ.*

Ultimately truth inheres in God, which is to say that truth is a property of the trinity. Jesus as its representative declared Himself the way, the truth and the life because each category interlocks itself as the living expression of veracity. Truth is personal, communal and itself.

While all scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for spiritual wisdom – not every assumption or religious teaching attributed to the Bible is God’s truth. It’s not true if it reverts people to the law and extends the knowledge of good and evil as the mode of the new testament age - but with Jesus help. Truth that is real and not demonically polluted is the truth of Christ manifested as you and as us. This is Christ come in our flesh. John writes, ‘I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.’ Such deceivers are those who insist that the law is come in your flesh. Or who are pedalling a christianity that is really a continuation of the knowledge of good and evil and its separation from God. Certain organisations do this because they want to insist that it is they and their message that enables union with God. The truth you should live by is that you already have it.

You have the same union with God that Jesus has. Jesus is not in us by the Spirit to promote institutionalism and vested interests. His mission it to spread His spirit and life among us to be the new creation Kingdom of God.+

Ultimately truth is life. Variations in truth and dilutions of it are spiritual disease and death. Then why do people promote unsound doctrine as truth? Often they do not know any better. Sometimes they do not ‘know’ because they do not want to know. Their sense of who they are, their identity – is so bound up in the ideas in which they have been immersed since childhood that they unconsciously resist Holy Spirit’s attempt to break through their crust into their hearts. Their heart is smothered in the numerous rationalisations they have gathered over their life-time. These are the fictions that they live by to retain themselves in an identity that is really ‘another husband.’ But such veils can be removed in Christ if we follow all the way and don’t get off the bus when we come to edge of our denominational beliefs.

‘We know that the law is good if one uses it properly’ 1 Tim 1.8 NIV. The proper use of the law was to lead humanity to Christ. It’s proper us for us personally is the same. The law can denote us as sinners but cannot change a thing. In this age we have another ‘law.’ But the mirror that was thought of as the law by myself and many in my youth is not the Ten Commandments. Since the cross the Mirror is the person of Jesus. When we look at Jesus we see ourselves. We look there not to sink in despair but to know that He is who we are and who we are becoming.

Living in your new covenant union with God is the difference between living in a poverty mentality and living in abundance. Kings and priests need not live in a peasant like, law produced separation from God.

FALSE FACTS: In our time it has become painfully clear that many reject the truth because truth runs counter to their interests. Sadly it’s the same in the field of religion where it is not uncommon to promote old covenant attitudes because careers, identities and a sense of status are joined to institutionalism and religion. But Jesus did not bequeath us religion. Religion is exactly what the Kingdom is not. Jesus left us His life as ours. The Kingdom of God is not a religion. It is a person – the person of Jesus as you.#

Michael Kapler writes,
As a child, I grew up in a great neighbourhood with plenty of kids and good friends. We were part of that generation where you could still leave the house early in the morning, come back after dark and nobody worried about you. I remember a time when some of us were hanging out and one of my friends said, “Mike, my uncle says that verse you shared with us isn’t in the Bible.” Her uncle was in the ministry, and although I still recall the passage, the reference isn’t important here. I went and got my Bible and showed our little group where it was with chapter and verse. I looked at them perplexed as I had just submitted proof that I had not made it up. One of the other kids responded and said, “Well, Mike, he is a minister.” The point being that people will often believe whatever they are told if they think they can trust the source. I learned early in life that it’s hard to show people truth and freedom when they are content with being led by the blind.” (1)

Indeed. Many live like peasants instead of kings and priests because they have trusted people who have lied to them. People believed the world was flat out of ignorance. Other resisted truth because their status was joined to old ideas. Why let truth get in the way of your influence, status and career? Why question our sense of entitlement to live the way we do? Why not just destroy the earth?!

Not all are blind leaders of the blind. But many who are sighted and can see the truth because they value it as life itself can be cast as disloyal, subversives and defective in character by the marketers of religion. Jesus prophesied this. We promote religion rather than life when our identity in a religious culture and its beliefs is more important to us than our relationship with Jesus. We spread gangrenous flesh when we compromise truth so that the ability of people under our influence to reach their full potential as sons and daughters of God is compromised.

‘If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea’ Mark 9.42 NIV. Little ones can be trusting gullible, brainwashed people.

In The Undoing of Adam, C Baxster Kruger writes, “
The Christian God is interested in relationship with us, and not just relationship, but union, and not just union, but such a union that everything He is and has—all glory and fullness, all joy and beauty and unbridled life—is to be shared with us and to become as much ours as it is His. The plan from the beginning, in the Christian vision, is that God would give Himself to us, and nothing less, so that we could be filled to overflowing with the divine life.”

This is the gospel in fullness and completeness. No money-changing here. No quick footwork designed to create the illusion that our is Christ’s gospel. No abridged gospel to satisfy the merchants of the law because the law that is for sinners. Christ’s gospel of the Kingdom is for the sons of God and the Multipliers of Life.

‘We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,  for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me’ 1 Tim 1.9-11 NIV.

* A christ who lives under the law and supports the law is a false christ.
+ There is much to be said for bringing heaven to earth by miracles and signs. But heaven invading earth means the end of capitalism and the spirit of Egypt pretending to be the Kingdom of God.
# The law of the spirit of life is relationship. It is belongingness in Christ. The cosmos holds together in the person of God. To be in Christ is to be in harmony with the trinity and with the right functioning of the cosmos.
