His life as your life

We would do better to think of sin less as things we are doing or not doing but as separation from God. Separation is the cause of all malfunction in the human sphere. The new wineskin that Jesus gave us all was the abolition of Adam’s mistaken quest and the impartation of God’s original plan through Christ in us. Father has graced us with forgiveness and His own life in His Son.

It’s not just forgiveness we get. It’s His life as our life that is ours.

Life is worthy in itself. It’s much more than the opposite of sin. Life is original and supreme. Life is extravagant and sovereign because life is God. Life is limitless. Life is the trinity and the ‘we’ of God make their home in all who
obey Father’s will. What is that will? It is to received His Son as our life.

There is a malevolent opposition to limitless life. It originates in Satan and spreads itself like a virus into the culture of religion. Captive operatives in the darkness of their minds fear losing their ‘accumulated merit of a life-time’ if life is really unlimited and free. This ‘clinging’ is the stain of the original lie – the lie that the pair who were already ‘
as Gods’ needed some ‘addition,’ some new and deviant ‘way’ to become complete. You can do this in the law and remain a parody of yourself. Or you can own Christ as your life and be a son of God.

We are sons outside of God. But in Christ we are sons in spirit and in truth.

You are not separated from God. But you need to live in this truth
in you mind by believing what God believes. What might this be? Here’s one rendering of it: ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death’ Rom 8.1 NIV.

And again,

‘I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord’ Rom 8.38 NIV.

Love is belonging. Bradley Jersak offers that, “
The Lamb does not merely offer to take away the sin of the world. The Lamb does not merely take away the sin of the church or the elect or the righteous. And the Lamb does not merely take away the sin(s) of the world—“sin” (singular) indicates something more fundamental has been dealt with. Sin is the disease of disunion healed in the Lamb’s union with humanity, all humanity.” (1)

There was a man who buried his inheritance in the ground. He said to God, ‘You are a hard man.’ He called God hard because he could not bring himself to believe that God’s grace is as radical and as huge as it is. So although he ‘belonged’ in principle he did not belong in reality. Jesus said, ‘Those who eat Me will live because of Me.’ There’s a banquet that is ours if we eat it.

There are people who live in the thought, ‘I hope I’ve done enough.’ They may grace people in this mode, but they need to ‘grace’ themselves by living in the ‘more than enough of Christ.

Religion can have us absorbed entirely in undoing separation that no longer exists. The Lamb of God has made all one with God. This is the new covenant wineskin. Ministry in the new covenant means teaching people to live in their inheritance of union with God. This is life without limit and it’s what drives out sin and death. It is ‘competent’ as Kingdom ministry because it empowers believers and non-believers to live in the truth of their inheritance, and so abandon the continued lie of the fall - that we are not enough. Not so. We are the sons/daughters of God.
