CHRIST YOUR LIFE

His life as your life

AN IDENTITY THAT IS AS REAL AS GOD'S IDENTITY

Jesus said unto them, “I am not beliefs. I AM.”

In science something either is or it is not. Not so in the realm of the spiritual. Descartes said, ‘I think therefore I am.’ What He should have said was ‘I am when I am in God.’ Legalism is the product of the law-encased mind. Life is the result of God in you and as you. Your view of what knowledge is – epistemology - will be different according to the culture in which you live. In the law and the knowledge of good and evil as a result of the woodenness of ‘the tree,’ we will think in binaries. In God – which is where we are in the new covenant, we have entered the realm of non-dualistic thinking. (This is the genuine realm of the Spirit. The old covenant plus the gifts is not).

THE BINARY MIND

“
The binary mind, so good for rational thinking, finds itself totally out of its league in dealing with things like .. God or mystery in general. It just keeps limiting reality to two alternatives and thinks it is smart because it chooses one!” (1)

Thus the fundamentalist and the ideologue – instead of taking seriously the new and living way of Christ in you – even when encountering the gifts - will revert to the old and sinister way of the Adamic Self as you. This is the way that Tolkien called ‘
the power of the one ring’, the way that Watchman Nee called ‘carnal christianity’ and the way that Jesus called ‘the flesh.’ The flesh is the power of the law that can reveal itself as dead men walking or committed men working in the power of the mystery of iniquity.

ADAM UNDONE

Whatever the degree of our baptism in religion we are talking the domain of the proof text and the letter that kills. How is this? Because as a function of the law, religion has never been alive and has always been some emanation of the tree of knowledge. This is why the new creation begins with the liberating words, ‘Christ in you’ and why John declares the defeat of the anti-christ with the words, ‘
Christ come in your flesh.’

RELIGIOUS FICTIONS

This ‘mindset of the law’ can seize on a scripture such as ‘Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf’ (1 Cor 10.17 NIV). It grasps it and emasculates it. Stultifies itself with the illusion that it guarantees union with God. Not so. Being guarantees union with – the being that is we and Father are one.

Union with God is the function of the interwoveness of ourselves and God accomplished by enterprise of the trinity. It’s not a text or the citing of it that gains us union with God. It’s God that procures us union with God and this God is Jesus Christ, known also as Christ our life. Jesus urged, ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20 NIV. If you have not yet realized this, then make ‘that day’, today.

POWER OF
RIGHT BELIEVING

The fact is that since the cross all of humanity belongs in God. In Christ Adam and the culture of the tree is no more because in Christ the tree of Adam (the cross) became the end of Adam and the start of a new creation and a new life in Jesus Christ. It is this Christ in us who makes us alive and who joins us to God in spirit and in truth. The law cannot join us to Christ and to teach that it does is to teach a lie. We are joined to God by agreeing that we are joined to God in His life, who is Jesus Christ*. Thus Jesus said many times to the disciples ‘only believe.’ We must believe the truth because what we believe becomes our reality and the reality of our community culture.

Unless we confront the truth we can never enter unlimited life, because life is never a lie and always the Christ come to live in you and be the real you who is a son of God.

SHAPES IN THE MIST

Any mode of belief that puts its faith in the letter captures itself in fictions and insulates itself the reality that is Christ – so that all the Believer sees is shapes in the fog. Until the Believer abandons religion and throws himself at Christs feet she cannot live in the fullness of the infinite life that is her inheritance but instead must hobble about as a diseased organ in the Body of Christ until she dies to her Adam and becomes alive in her Christ who comes in her flesh and grows her into her real self: A daughter of God in spirit and in truth.

Christ is you. His Spirit manifests as your face, your soul and your identity. You are not deity. In Him you have His sonship. In the Fatherhood of God you begin to reign as yourself proceeding from glory to glory. This is the Kingdom realised in you and as us all. This is what Paul declares in Galatians 2.20 and what he warns us of in Galatians 2.21 –
membership of the Body with no real content which in actuality is membership in the Body of Death where Christ is not your life and you are not you because you saw fit to bury your inheritance in the ground because you told Him He is a hard man, expecting people to live in His spirit instead of our law.(&)
