His life as your life

Thomas Torrance wrote, “There can be no more laying of foundations, any more than there can be other incarnations or crucifixions of Christ or re-baptism.” As Paul warned. There are no ‘other gospels’ that impart life. As Jesus urged, paddocks of tares are not wheat and false christs are false because they present themselves as lesser christs from lesser gospels and smaller and continuing version of the knowledge of good and evil.

God in us – the trinity in us and with us is the healing and reconstruction of the world. Incarnated with His life we are agents of the new creation and the new creation itself. When we live and practice the incarnate God in us we will offer a solution to the misery of the world, instead of religion, moralism, entitled meanness and proprietary versions of grace. There are those who insist that radical grace is universalism because they fear chipping away at the ‘entitlement’ they feel they have accumulated as proprietors of religious life.

The danger of a sin-bound obsession with godliness is that such an addiction is religious – but it’s not Godly. The cross is a sacrifice of love and much more. It is the at-one-ment and the door to the main event: The achievement of our union with God as fellowship with the persons of the trinity. God’s aim in the cross is to have you share in His life. Baxster Kruger observes, “When you start with legal holiness, you have eyes only for the cross, and you never see that in Jesus Christ, nothing less than the eternal trinitarian life of Father, Son and Spirit is being lived out inside human existence. You never really get the staggering meaning of the incarnation.”

Some know incarnation as a word - but not as a state of being. Others attempt the Holy Spirit and the anointing without it, but this has no root. Jesus is the vine who roots our being in the trinity. Oneness with Father is the source of the Spirit without limit.

God came among us in Jesus. Then following the cross God became incarnated in our being because of Christ in us. By the constantly ministering Spirit, the trinity is woven into our being so that we and Father are one.

Christ in you has been the hope of glory ever since the resurrection. His life as your life is the foundation of the new creation, the foundation of you and the new Kingdom of the world – the trinity manifesting as the sons and daughters of God.
